The Asbury Hotel

A stay at The Asbury will only enhance your visit to the area. The room, food, drink, and friendly service are all on point. I especially appreciated how engaging all the staff were.

What a GREAT stay! We were only in Asbury Park for about 24 hours but the location of The Asbury was SO convenient! We were able to park our car and walk everywhere! We had the King Ocean Room and while there was construction going on across the street the view was quiet and beautiful! Of course we grabbed a few games of bowling and had breakfast at The Diner! Both were so convenient with a great atmosphere!!! The staff is second to none! Everyone was so helpful, friendly and engaging!! We are already planning another trip back to stay longer, and this time bring our pup!! Thank you so much for such a wonderful stay!!

TLDR: Given the room, the price, and the way the experience added up, I would strongly recommend looking at other options before booking here. From other poor reviews I did not see much to suggest the hotel makes meaningful efforts after bad stays but I feel it apt to share my experience. Room I was very dissappointed upon entering the room. The room was tiny and felt even smaller than it should have, and the design made that worse. Notably, the nightstand setup is baffling. It takes up visual space in a room that already has almost none to give. The air in the room felt sticky from the moment I walked in. The AC was blasting, yet the room had a sticky, humid feel that somehow felt worse than outside. That set the tone fast and unfortunately stuck around. Looking at the floor map, rooms 05, 07, 01, and 14 on each floor seem to get especially cramped layouts. My room was one of the smallest hotel rooms I have stayed in, even compared with compact rooms I have had in Japan. The bathroom was the nicest part of the room. It also seemed to take up close to half the total square footage, which made the rest of the layout feel even more awkward. The checked floored tiling is a strange choice, especially in a room where cleanliness already feels questionable, making grime and dirty more obvious, I wondered if housekeeping really came by before our arrival or if its expected for the floors to be in this state. The rest of the furnishings have the same dated feel, like a 2008 Disney sitcom set trying to look cool. The broken shutter in my room added to that feeling. The view was nothing special. At this price, I expected more care. The room felt a hair above shabby. Amenities The pool was decent. It was busy with families, which was fine. The lobby is spacious and works well enough for coworking, although that is not where most people want to spend their time on vacation. Amex Hotel Collection Benefits We booked through Amex Platinum’s Hotel Collection. The room upgrade never came through. Late checkout had no flexibility. The $100 credit also had very little useful place to go. None of these are necessarily the fault of the hotel, I take their word for it when these weren't available but these may be a saving grace for an overall poor experience.

The Asbury seems to be loosing some of its panache - have had lots of fun here in the past - great music all weekend in the lobby, fun vibe, etc. This stay I felt like we should have stayed at the sister property Ocean Club ot get better service and events - at Asbury Hotel, there was no music, no calendar of events, it was crowded with weddings and day passes. - not like how it used to be. See photo for our sad Friday night - few people, no music, Big TVs off - not fun.

I would've preferred if the parking lot was open to.everyone, but other than that, the hotel was great. There was a large variety of things to do, and the staff was really friendly. My favorite part of the trip was having dinner at the diner. The mac and cheese was delicious, and the waitress had a little chat with us about Happy Feet.

It’s always a vibe at the Asbury. There’s so much to do from the rooftop bar, the movie theater, the lanes, the diner, the pool, open mic … it’s endless and it’s so conveniently located. Then… there’s the entire town outside the property!

When I come to Asbury Park one night for a Stone Pony show, the Asbury is my destination hotel. It suits me well, providing a comfortable room, great shower, friendly service and I feel safe whether alone or with a friend. The bartender lets me take a late night cocktail to my room so I can settle in peacefully after a wonderful musical event. There’s a coffee breakfast bar in the lobby as well as a regulation size pool table. Swimming pool and often live music in the early evening. Wonderful place to stay !
