The St Laurent Social Club & Guest Rooms

This hotel has potential, but unfortunately the experience fell far below what I would consider acceptable.To start, the room is advertised as a “Queen Room with Exterior Bath.” Yes, if you read further into the details, it explains that the bathroom is across the hall, but calling it an “exterior bath” feels unnecessarily vague. Just say the private bathroom is located across a public hallway so guests know exactly what they are booking. You can also hear everything happening in the hallway while using it, which makes the entire setup even more uncomfortable. The bigger issue, however, was cleanliness. I arrived to find makeup on my bedsheets and blood on the towels. That is simply unacceptable at any hotel, especially at this price point. When I raised the issue, the solution offered was a complimentary beverage by the pool. A free drink is not an appropriate response to blood on a guest’s towels and dirty bedding.Even more concerning, a staff member told me that employees sometimes use the exterior bathroom assigned to this room. That certainly made me question why my bathroom was dirty upon arrival and why a bathroom intended for a paying guest is apparently also being used by staff. The basic amenities were lacking as well. There was no body lotion, I had to continually request fresh towels, there were no hangers in the closet, you have to request a refrigerator, and the Wi-Fi was unreliable. There were two beach chairs, but many of the basic things you would expect to find in a hotel room were simply missing.There is a nice bar and restaurant associated with the property, but bizarrely, hotel guests apparently cannot order food to bring back to their rooms. Meanwhile, restaurant guests are given to-go containers for their leftovers. I'm still not sure how that policy makes any sense.And then there was the pool. A member of the hotel staff actually advised me not to use it because it was so dirty. When your own employees are warning paying guests against using one of the property's primary amenities, there is clearly a larger problem.I will say that the people working at the front desk did try to be helpful, and I don't believe this is an issue with individual employees. This feels like a management and operational problem.There are some nice aspects of the property, but those things don't compensate for dirty linens, blood on towels, questionable bathroom cleanliness, unreliable amenities, and being warned by staff not to use the pool.

had the BEST girls' weekend at The St. Laurent in Asbury Park, no notes. Early check-in, gorgeous room, spotless. Staff couldn't have been nicer. And the beds?? Unreal. My friend asked what sheets they use, that's how comfy they were. The pool = the moment. Great vibe, great service, food was good, cocktails were better. We basically didn't leave. Full day, zero regrets. Dinner at Judy's (the hotel restaurant) was insanely good — do not skip it. Eggplant, chicken, buttered noodles all hit. Ordered a bunch, loved all of it. Location is perfect too — totally walkable, hit up Cookman Ave a couple times, never needed the car once. Pro tips: book Judy's ahead of time, trust me. Grab pool chairs early if it's a busy weekend. And get a cocktail poolside, non-negotiable. Beautiful rooms, ridiculous beds, great pool, amazing food, sweet staff, walkable location — 10/10 Asbury Park getaway. Already thinking about when we're going back.

My wife and I spent a wonderful long weekend at The St. Laurent Social Club in late July. Everything about this place was amazing. It was the perfect long weekend getaway for adults. The staff went out of their way to make it a fun experience. The pool has a really great vibe. The food at the restaurant (both for lunch and dinner) is excellent and the bar/lounge has a great cocktail selection. In addition the room is comfortable and well designed. Special recommendation for the cereal milk latte's at the coffee cart each morning--they were delicious.

The arrival was smooth and the checking was fast. The room is ok, the A/C in the room was struggling on a very hot day. The bed is a Murphy bed, which was very disappointing. No fridge in the room. The pool closes at 5 pm which was too early for us. But the staff was very nice and helpful, the pool is great and the service is amazing

It had everything he promises in the ads. The room was clean and seemed new. The staff was very friendly and helpful, there was a great energy at the bar and the air conditioning in the room was great considering it was 100 degrees outside.

I really wanted to like this hotel, but the experience never came close to justifying the premium price. The rooms are exceptionally small, and the Murphy beds leave very little usable space once they're down. You're paying boutique hotel rates for accommodations that feel cramped and impractical. The lack of soundproofing is another major issue. The walls are so thin that neighboring guests' conversations—and even flushing toilets—are clearly audible. Despite quiet hours being posted throughout the property, they do not appear to be consistently enforced. The pool experience was equally disappointing. Signage states the pool is open until 6:00 PM, yet poolside service effectively ends around 3:30 PM when the kitchen begins shutting down. Staff start collecting towels and closing umbrellas well before the posted closing time, creating the impression that guests are expected to leave. To make matters more confusing, staff informed us that the pool closes at 5:00 PM despite signage indicating otherwise. Guests are also limited to a small selection of pre-made cocktails and cannot order drinks from the hotel bar while at the pool. Once poolside service ends, there is effectively a two-hour gap during which obtaining a drink becomes unnecessarily difficult, as the hotel bar does not open until 5:00 PM and often is not ready to serve guests until 5:30 PM or later. It was also surprising to see all poolside drinkware restricted to acrylic plastic while servers freely delivered glass bottles of Saratoga water and wine to the pools edge.  The service culture throughout the property was perhaps the biggest disappointment. Rather than feeling welcomed, it often felt as though guests were an inconvenience. I rarely encountered so many staff members actively avoiding eye contact instead of acknowledging waiting customers. Even after the bar officially opens, guests can be left waiting 30 to 45 minutes while staff continue setup and preparation, making it clear that operational tasks take priority over the guest experience. Ultimately, the pricing suggests a luxury boutique hotel experience, but the room quality, noise levels, inconsistent policies, and lackluster service simply do not justify the cost. Based on my experience, I would not recommend this hotel to friends or family, nor would I choose to stay here again.
