Gongchen Bridge Historic District

Gongchen Bridge Historic District

One of the Hangzhou city walk routes: Gongchen Bridge ✨ - Located at No. 1 Qiaonong Street, Gongshu District, Hangzhou, on the Beijing-Hangzhou Grand Canal - Connects the two banks of Gongshu District, Hangzhou, about 700 meters north of the upstream Textile Bridge and about 500 meters south of the downstream Dengyun Bridge. Gongchen Bridge is 98 meters long, 9 meters wide in the middle, 16 meters high, and 12.2 meters wide at both ends. The bridge has a clear span of 11.9 meters at the side holes and 15.8 meters at the middle hole, and is 12.2 meters wide at both ends, making it the highest and longest stone arch bridge in Hangzhou. - The bridge connects Lishui Road and Taizhou Road to the east, and Qiaonong Street to the west, spanning the Beijing-Hangzhou Grand Canal and connecting Xiahe Road, which is the southern end of the Beijing-Hangzhou Grand Canal. - On June 22, 2014, the Beijing-Hangzhou Grand Canal was included in the World Heritage List, and Gongchen Bridge was selected as a world cultural heritage site as a hydraulic relic of the Beijing-Hangzhou Grand Canal. The district is home to the Fan Museum, Umbrella Museum, Scissors, Swords and Swords Museum, Zitan Museum, and Canal Museum, all of which are open to the public for free, allowing visitors to experience the ancient and modern canal culture more deeply. Recently, the district has been filled with the festive atmosphere of the Spring Festival, and is bustling with activity. - The Zhang Daxian Temple at Gongchen Daoyuan also offers free "couplets" and "Fu" characters.

Maojiabu

Maojiabu

Maojiabu is what I call the epitome of West Lake's spring beauty. The charm of Hangzhou's West Lake varies with each season, and spring is especially unique. Located next to Yanggong Causeway, this secret spot in spring is where the grass grows tall, orioles fly, and the greenery is lush. The purple February orchids bloom profusely, as if stepping into a fairy tale's green wonderland. I've posted some photos from last year. The February orchids by the lake at the entrance were only planted halfway, not as many as in previous years. Further inside, near the pavilion, they bloom densely and make for even prettier pictures. Recommended citywalk straight route: To Yanggong Causeway - Quyuan Fenghe - Maojiabu - Turtle Pool West Lake Scenic Area ..

Parking is nearby, and the restaurant will have someone to guide you. 6. A 10% service charge will be charged. We went there in the first month, so it was waived.

Because he was proficient in medicine and kind-hearted, he accidentally died in a drowning incident while helping others. The local people spontaneously raised funds to bury him, and Emperor Guangxu bestowed a plaque and conferred the title of Zhang Da Zhenren. From the tomb of Zhang Daochang at the end of the Qing Dynasty, it developed from a tomb pavilion to a shrine, then to Zhang Da Xian Temple, and was demolished in 1958 and changed to 'Gongchen Bridge Health Clinic', leaving only the dilapidated San Guan Hall. Then in 2008, this Qing Dynasty Taoist temple, which had almost no incense, was rebuilt at No. 6 Qiaoxi Straight Street, Gongchen Bridge. After another renovation in 2022, it was reopened on June 15, 2023, and renamed 'Gongchen Taoist Temple'. The current head of the Taoist temple is Zhang Chongda, the 26th generation disciple of Qiu Chuji of the Quanzhen School. There are currently 9 Taoist priests and more than 60 volunteers.

A meticulously compiled super detailed itinerary for a six-day, seven-night trip to Hangzhou

A meticulously compiled super detailed itinerary for a six-day, seven-night trip to Hangzhou

🍃Hangzhou is a romantic and comfortable place. This itinerary is for friends who are new to Hangzhou. The schedule is quite relaxed, suitable for a leisurely stroll~ 🌟D1: West Lake Please reserve a whole day for West Lake, it's worth it‼️You can refer to my previous notes for the route. If you rush to arrange West Lake and other attractions together, you will definitely regret it😭 After leaving West Lake, you can go to the Lakeside Yintai in77 by the lake for a stroll, if your feet are not broken... Hangzhou's most bustling commercial district, super big, you will get lost even with navigation, Hangzhou's daytime is given to West Lake, the night can be left to Yintai😘😘😘 🌟D2: Manjuelong➡️Longjing Village➡️Nine Creeks in Misty Forest➡️Yangmeiling I stayed in Manjuelong for the first two days. Manjuelong, where the osmanthus flowers have withered, has lost a lot of flavor, and there are only homestays and teahouses along the road😅 The homestay is near Wengjia Mountain. Under the guidance of the local tea farmer's aunt, I was trembling all the way, crossing the dense tea forest from Wengjia Mountain, and reaching Longjing Village! About 40 minutes, wandering on the mountain path, and crossing a small forest, I can't hang up the aunt will tell me: be brave🥹 ❣️Maybe this is the meaning of travel, no matter how many well-prepared guides are not as happy as the surprise brought by the aunt's unusual road🥳 🍃Eighteen Imperial Tea Gardens: It's worth going if you have time. Coming out of Longjing Village is Nine Creeks in Misty Forest, Nine Creeks in Misty Forest = Nine Creeks and Eighteen Gullies, one of the ten scenes of West Lake. The old trees on this road are intertwined, the tea forest is like a sea, and the stream is winding... Slow down, calm down, leisurely and carefully, looking for the quiet beauty here~ 🌟D3: Lingyin Temple➡️Taoguang Temple I stayed at a homestay near Baishi Bridge, 10 minutes' walk from Lingyin Temple. The advantage of living nearby is that when you return after the park is closed, you can take any photos at the entrance of Lingyin Temple📸 Lingyin Temple: 3 hours Taoguang Temple: 1 hour 🌟D4: Xiaoyingzhou Island➡️Xiaohe Straight Street➡️Gongchen Bridge Because I didn't have time to go to Three Pools Mirroring the Moon on the first day due to a miscalculation of time, I must make up for it‼️The whole journey is one and a half hours 🔸Xiaohe Straight Street is a very suitable literary street for a walk at night, with many personality shops, many check-in spots, and you can wear flowers~ 🔸Gongchen Bridge is the highest and longest stone arch bridge in Hangzhou, the end mark of the Beijing-Hangzhou Grand Canal. I came from the starting point of the canal, so I must come here to see the end. 🌟D5: Faxi Temple➡️Jingci Temple From the homestay, take Tianzhu Road to Faxi Temple, the whole journey is about two kilometers, the ancient stone road winds all the way, bamboo forests and ancient temples, quiet and tranquil~ You can take the 1314 bus on the Dream Line directly from Faxi Temple to Jingci Temple 🌟D6: Six Harmonies Pagoda➡️Hefang Street I came here for Liang Sicheng and Lin Huiyin, but I didn't expect the history and beauty here to be beyond my imagination🥹 In the evening, the Six Harmonies Pagoda at sunset is super beautiful~ Hefang Street is similar to the commercial streets in other places. If you don't have time, you don't have to go, it's average. The six-day and seven-night trip to Hangzhou is over, I really love it here💓I will come again in the future~

Canyons × Tea Mountains | A Guide to Northern and Southern China

Canyons × Tea Mountains | A Guide to Northern and Southern China

🌊[Shanxi Baquan Gorge: The Winding Water Canyon] When the wind in the Taihang Mountains inflated my jacket like a balloon, I finally understood why the locals call Baquan Gorge "Earth's Wound." Taking the only canyon sightseeing elevator in the country, I descended 208 meters. The red cliffs outside the glass looked like a mille-feuille sliced open by a giant axe, and wild peach blossoms emerging from the crevices trembled in the April wind like pink waves. The highlight is the high gorge and tranquil lake section! Sitting in a painting boat, cruising through the emerald-green waterway, the cliffs on both sides suddenly turned 90° inwards. Just as the bow seemed about to hit the mountain, the waterway mysteriously twisted to the right, forming an S-shape—this is the "Heart of Baquan" photo spot! I recommend bringing a wide-angle lens. At 2 p.m., the sunlight penetrates the 13 waterfalls, forming a rainbow that lands precisely on the deck of the boat. Hikers must challenge the "City in the Sky" loop: a suspended plank road + the Jade Emperor zip line + the North Heaven Gate cave. When I used my drone to take an aerial view of the canyon from the 380-meter transparent glass viewing platform, the tour boats looked as small as sesame seeds, and the turquoise waterway naturally formed a ❤️ shape. Stay overnight in the town of Shibanyan at the mouth of the canyon, and after tasting the fragrant peach blossom noodles (Taihang Mountain wild vegetables mixed with oat noodles), look up to see the Big Dipper hanging right in the "A Thread of Sky" crack. 🏔️[Nanshiyang Grand Canyon: Beijing's Little Colorado] Who would have thought that Mentougou District in Beijing hides a miniature version of the American West canyons? When I stepped into Nanshiyang Grand Canyon in my hiking boots, the ochre-red rock formations burned under the sunlight, and the jagged rocks resembled ancient mythical beasts frozen in time. This place is a geology textbook come to life: Danxia landforms, glacial striations, and potholes in the riverbed appear one after another along the 8-kilometer plank road. The most impressive section is the "Sky Ladder"! After climbing the 60° inclined layered rocks on all fours, I suddenly saw a line of azure sky between two knife-sharp mountains—this is the "Stone Gate Open to Heaven" formed by geological movement. Remember to turn left at the Stargazing Platform stele. The hidden Sea of Clouds plank road will lead you to encounter herds of blue sheep. The gravel they kick up when jumping echoes like chimes in the canyon. I recommend doing it in reverse: take the shuttle bus to Fanchen Valley at the innermost part and hike back upstream. The Black Dragon Pool at the end of Fanchen Valley made my jaw drop—a natural pool surrounded by black basalt rock, with a water temperature of only 16°C in midsummer! On the way back, take a break at Kingfisher Creek and soak a watermelon in the stream for half an hour. When you cut it open, even ladybugs will come to grab a bite. 🍵[Hangzhou Tea Soul Trek | 3 Divine Routes] 🌱Route 1: Longjing Village - Sanfencha - Meijiawu When the aroma of tea frying mixed with the scent of osmanthus filled my nostrils, I knew I had come to the right place! At 7 a.m., I squatted in the Longjing Village tea fields, watching the tea farmers' nimble fingers "grab, shake, and place" the tea leaves during the kill-green process. Climbing along the Qianlong Ancient Road to Sanfencha, the entire core production area of West Lake Longjing tea came into view. A few century-old ginkgo trees suddenly appeared among the dark green tea fields, as if someone had knocked over a palette. 🍃Route 2: Longwu Tea Village - Guangming Temple Reservoir This place holds the ultimate secret of Hangzhou tea lovers! Ride a shared bike through the vast tea fields, and suddenly turn into the bamboo forest at Guangming Temple Reservoir to discover a Song Dynasty tea-making experience center. I put on a Ru skirt and learned the "Seven-Step Tea Making Method." The snowy foam produced by the tea whisk was even smoother than Starbucks' Cloud Macchiato. In the evening, go to the reservoir dam to watch the sunset. The dark tea mountains reflected in the mirror-like water made me feel like I had stepped into the set of "A Dream of Splendor." 💦Route 3: Manjuelong - Bathhouse - Guiren Pavilion - Hupao Spring A fantastic journey starting from the internet-famous bathhouse (the real-life boiler room from "Spirited Away")! At No. 75 Manjuelong, I drank Jiuqu Hongmei tea brewed with Hupao Spring water. Following the stone steps up to Guiren Pavilion, the duet of West Lake and Qiantang River suddenly unfolded before my eyes. Remember to bring an empty bottle when going downhill. Every day, elderly people line up with buckets at Hupao Park's "Third Best Spring in the World." Splashing a handful of spring water on your face is more refreshing than any luxury facial mist. ✨[Travel Tips] 1⃣ Transportation Links: Beijing (Nanshiyang) - Taiyuan (Baquan Gorge) - Hangzhou are triangularly distributed. High-speed rail + car rental is the most flexible option. 2⃣ Golden Photography Times: Baquan Gorge in the morning for mist-shrouded canyons, Nanshiyang in the evening for sunset on the rock formations, and Longjing Village on rainy days for misty tea fields. 3⃣ Must-Eat List: Changzhi donkey meat pancakes (with Jingjie sauce), Mentougou fire pot tofu, and Hangzhou tea-flavored shrimp. 4⃣ Secret Accommodations: Stay in a cliffside guesthouse at Baquan Gorge (Piaoyunshanju), choose a tent hotel in Fanchen Valley at Nanshiyang, and highly recommend Longwu Tea Mountain House in Hangzhou (each room has a private tea table). 5⃣ Safety Warning: Crampons are needed at Baquan Gorge in April, be careful on the gravel sections of Nanshiyang during the rainy season, and beware of tea-picking bees in the Hangzhou tea mountains. As I wiped the sweat from my forehead by Hupao Spring, I suddenly realized that these three destinations hold the secret code of Chinese landscape aesthetics—Baquan Gorge represents "danger and grandeur," Nanshiyang represents "strangeness and magnificence," and the Hangzhou tea mountains represent "purity and elegance." Perhaps everyone who walks among these landscapes can find their own sense of excitement and peace in the folds of the rocks, the tender tips of tea buds, and the gurgling of spring water.

A secluded mountain residence, a corner of nature.

A secluded mountain residence, a corner of nature.

Always shuttling between cities on weekdays, I always want to escape into the mountains whenever I have free time. "Pick chrysanthemums under the eastern fence, leisurely see the southern mountain", leisurely experience the tranquility that the mountain environment gives to the soul. Starting from Hangzhou, it takes about 1.5 hours by car to reach the mountain homestay in Lin'an: Qianchuan. Follow the winding mountain wall to the small courtyard in the mountain, gently push open the small door like a firewood door, and there is a garden as soon as you enter the door, quiet and deep, and enter this connotative space. Read, taste tea, meditate, and absorb the nourishment of the mountains and nature. In the early morning, wake up in the bird's song, look through the window to see the clouds in the mountains, as if in a fairyland. In the afternoon, the sun shines through the gaps in the leaves and casts mottled light and shadow. Sitting on the stone bench in the yard, the book in hand seems to be stained with the aura of the mountains and forests. In the evening, watch the setting sun dye the mountains and forests golden, which is the most generous gift from nature. Here, every moment is accompanied by nature, every second is felt
