2025 Beijing Road Pedestrian Street and Haizhu Square Travel Guide: Must-see attractions, popular food, hotels, transportation routes (updated in July)
All Trip Moments about Beijing Road Pedestrian Street and Haizhu Square
Guangzhou is the Best Place to City Walk!!
Guangzhou is a city suitable for city walk! But first, let's start with taking the escalator up to a hill!!
Day 1:
Have breakfast at one of the famous Wanton Noodles Stores. I recommend 竹园竹升面 for their springy noodles or 吴财记面家 for the exceptional fried wonton! Then take a stroll at ShaMian Island. Proceed to BaiYun Mountain via metro. Climb to the peak with the help of escalator! For dinner, head to any walking street and munch on Chinese street food!
Day 2:
Make a reservation with one of the many hanfu stores and transform into a princess of different dynasty. It would take about half a day. The usual will bring you to 永庆坊, but you may find some other places that will bring you to a spot that you wouldn't imagine! For dinner, try the crab rice/noodle specialty!
Day 3:
Have DimSum for breakfast and head to Beijing road walking street. Visit the famous temple that is said to inspire one of Hayao Miyazaki's anime. Visit 永庆坊 if you didn't.
[Tips]
- Guangzhou is a place very suitable for city walk, bring comfortable shoes.
- Weather in Guangzhou is unpredictable, bring umbrella and shoes cover.

Guangzhou's Beijing Road Pedestrian Street: Full of life with a bit of the past tucked in.
Wandering Guangzhou’s Beijing Road Pedestrian Street was an experience I won’t soon forget. The street is a lively mix of modern shops, bustling food stalls, and vibrant energy that makes it feel alive at every turn. What makes it truly unique, though, is the hidden history beneath my feet. Glass panels in the street reveal ancient road sections from the Tang and Song dynasties, showing just how long this spot has been a hub of activity. It’s incredible to walk through centuries of history while enjoying the present-day hustle. The perfect blend of old and new! #guangzhou #pedestrianstreet #beijingroad

What a fascinating time to spend on one of the busiest streets in guangzhou. There were lots of shops and traffic just like shinjuku. It can't be done by a day since the street was huge and full of people.
From the hippest to the cheapest clothes, from traditional food to modern fusion, from souvenirs to tasty snacks, this street has it all.
This is a must visit place in Guangzhou as it offers so many things to see, shop and eat all day long. Highly recommended!

What to Eat at Beijing Road Market in Guangzhou
Beijing Road Market in Guangzhou is a great place to find delicious street food. If you're visiting, there are a few special foods that you must try.
One of the most famous street foods in China is stinky tofu. Even though it has a strong smell, many people love its unique taste. The tofu is usually deep-fried, making it crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. It’s often served with chili sauce or soy sauce.
Tanghulu: Tanghulu is a traditional Chinese snack made from candied fruits on a stick. At Beijing Road Market, you can find a special version called "Ice Tanghulu." The fruits are coated with a sweet syrup that hardens into a crunchy shell, making them a perfect sweet treat.
Grilled Skewers (Chuan Chuan and Kao Chuan): These are grilled meat or vegetable skewers. You can choose from a variety of ingredients like chicken, beef, lamb, or vegetables. The skewers are seasoned with spices and then grilled over an open flame, giving them a smoky and savory flavor.
Durian Pancakes: Durian is a tropical fruit with a strong smell but a sweet, creamy taste. If you like durian, you should try the durian pancakes. They are made with thin layers of pancake filled with fresh durian and cream, creating a rich and delicious dessert.
Lemon Juice: To refresh yourself after all the savory and sweet snacks, have a glass of lemon juice. It’s a simple and refreshing drink that’s perfect for a hot day at the market. Look for the one with Lime Duckling Logo, it was so good!
When you visit Guangzhou, make sure to explore Beijing Road Market and try these delicious foods. Each one offers a unique taste of the local culture, and you’re sure to find something you love.

Souvenir Shopping at Guangzhou’s Beijing Road Market
Shopping for souvenirs at Guangzhou’s Beijing Road Market is exciting and lively. The market is well-known for its wide range of unique items that show off Guangzhou's rich culture and history. It’s a great spot to find gifts for friends and family or something special to remember your trip by.
One of the favorite souvenirs here is the traditional lion dance figurines and decorations. Succulents are also popular and make lovely keepsakes. If you want something small and easy to carry, you’ll find lots of choices like keychains, fridge magnets, and small figurines of famous Chinese symbols like dragons or pandas. These are affordable and make great gifts.

Beijing Road: Where Ancient Footsteps Meet Modern Finds
#gzshopping
Beijing Road Walking Street is Guangzhou’s dynamic blend of history and retail buzz. I wandered past glass-covered ancient road ruins—layers of stone paths dating back to the Song and Ming dynasties—while browsing trendy boutiques and time-honored shops. The street stretched with energy, from sizzling street food stalls to sleek shopping malls. I sampled local dim sum, snagged a few souvenirs, and even stumbled upon Dafo Temple, a peaceful oasis amid the bustle2. Whether you're chasing deals or soaking in 2,000 years of culture, Beijing Road offers a walk through time wrapped in neon lights and Cantonese flavor. 🏮

Beijing Road is a busy commercial street in the center of Guangzhou. In this car-free zone, it is not only a good place for shopping, but also contains some well-preserved relics in the underground archaeological site of this street, including the Nanyue Palace Site and the Qin Dynasty Shipbuilding Site. Through the glass plate under your feet, you can see the street relics from the Song Dynasty. There are many cafes and restaurants along the way where you can enjoy local Cantonese snacks or exotic cuisines. There is a special lively atmosphere at night when the lights are on. At the end of the working day, Beijing Road will be more vibrant than during the day.

Explore heritage sites and shop for bargains on one of Guangzhou's oldest streets
Full of energy, people and a fast pace, Beijing Road is a busy commercial street in the center of Guangzhou and a historic main street in the city. There are dozens of shops in this pedestrian zone, including designer boutiques, jewellery shops, bookshops, supermarkets and shops selling local goods such as embroidery, sculptures and scented teas. It is difficult to bargain in specialty stores because the goods here are already very cheap and of good quality. Leaving Beijing Road, you can go down the winding road to some side streets and narrow alleys. Here you will find many shops selling cheap clothing. Cool down by walking through the cool water arch, where water sprays out from the nozzles on both sides to form an arch. Beijing Road is not only a place for shopping, there are also many historical sites worth visiting. Around this famous area you will find several excavated and preserved sites. Highlights include the remains of the Nanyue Palace and the Qin and Han shipbuilding factory, and look down at the archaeological sites beneath the streets. Through the glass floor beneath your feet, you can see the remains of a road dating back to the Song Dynasty (960-1279). Beijing Road attracts many vendors to gather and sell their wares. They will lobby tirelessly, and if you are not interested in their products, please politely decline their offer. In addition to walking and shopping, take some time to enjoy a meal at the cafes and restaurants along the way. You will find a wide range of cuisines here, from authentic Cantonese cuisine to cuisines from various countries. Every night, the streets are lit up with neon lights, creating a very lively atmosphere. Beijing Road is more vibrant at night than during the day. Beijing Road Pedestrian Street is located in the center of Guangzhou and can be reached by subway.
