2025 Blankenberge Travel Guide: Must-see attractions, popular food, hotels, transportation routes (updated in July)

#Beachfront accommodation There are many hotels in the C-Hotels chain in the coastal cities of Belgium. For example, the Helios Hotel that we stayed at is located in Blankenberge. The location is great, right on the beach. The hotel is quite new, decorated in bright tones, with wooden furniture mixed with rattan, giving it a full beach feel. In the breakfast room, there are tables set up both inside near the buffet line and in front with a clear view of the sea. You can choose to set it up as you like. ✅ Room Since we came to stay by the sea, we chose to book the Superior Sea View. The 24-square-meter room is decorated in white and pastel tones, very beautiful. There is a small balcony where you can stand and watch the sea. The bathroom is well-proportioned. There is also capsule coffee and tea in the room. 🕶 What is cute and unique to every hotel in the C-Hotels chain is that there are sunglasses in various colors placed for free in each room. You can keep them as souvenirs. And judging from the sign, they really do have UV protection. You can actually use them. There is also a lucky draw where you can take a selfie of yourself wearing the hotel's sunglasses and post it on social media, tagging the hotel's name, and win a free stay, which will be given away once a month. If you are interested, try it for fun and you might be able to make another trip. 🍳 Breakfast You can order it separately from the room rate. The food line is complete with eggs, bacon, yogurt, ham, various fruits, and a wide selection of teas, coffee brewed from a machine, and pancakes. #Dinner There are many seafood restaurants and cafes along the beach in Blankenberge. For dinner, if you want a restaurant with exquisite craftsmanship and a good atmosphere, we chose "La Cuisine". This restaurant serves Belgian/French-style food. It is a semi-fine dining restaurant that offers both course meals and a la carte menus, and also serves amuse bouche. It is clear that the food looks more detailed and delicate than other restaurants in the same area, but the prices are similar. For this meal, we ordered from the a la carte menu as follows: ➡️ Amuse Bouche It is beef seasoned with a tomato-based sauce with herbs, served with small pieces of potatoes. It is delicious. The highlight is that it comes with a small glass of drink. It is strawberry juice that is seasoned with garlic, olive oil, and various herbs. It sounds strange, but it goes well together. It is refreshing, but it still feels more like a meal than a dessert. The flavors are mixed very well. ➡️ Tomaat met grijze Noordzee garnalen salade This menu is a classic Belgian dish that can be found everywhere. It is a vegetable salad with large tomatoes stuffed with tiny shrimps, served with creamy salad dressing and cocktail salad dressing. Although it is not a dish that shows off the chef's skills, the fresh, crisp vegetables and fresh tiny shrimps add a refreshing touch to the meal. ➡️ Gegratineerde kabeljauwfilet, spinazie, warme groentjes Kabeljauw is very popular in Belgium, but most restaurants use the method of baking it until it is cooked. The highlight of this restaurant is the grilling method. The grilling smell is very fragrant. It is delicious from the fish itself. The sauce shows off the skill very well. It is a sauce that mixes peas, spinach, and other stir-fried ingredients together to create a smooth, creamy, well-rounded flavor that is not greasy at all. This dish is the best of the meal. ➡️ Sliptongetjes, huisgemaakte tartaar saus Sliptongetjes is a sole fish (compared to Thais, it should be a species close to the sole fish) grilled until fragrant and seasoned with herbs. Served with the restaurant's homemade mayonnaise and lemon, the fish meat is very good, soft and juicy, fresh and not fishy. Overall, it's delicious. ➡️ Scampi Curry Ananas Normally, when ordering a menu with shrimp in Belgium, they usually use frozen shrimp. You have to order from a restaurant in a city by the sea like this to get fresh shrimp. With this menu, you get fresh, bouncy shrimp all over the plate, topped with a thick cream sauce with curry powder. But what's cool is that there's pineapple in the sauce, making the taste a little sweet. For the side dishes that come with every dish, we ordered homemade mashed potatoes from the restaurant. The texture is smooth and the taste is very good. We also ordered croquettes so that there wouldn't be the same. They were fried until crispy and not oily. It was very enjoyable to eat. ➡️ Chocolate Mousse This is a dessert menu that is just as delicious as the main dishes. The mousse is soft, the chocolate is rich and fragrant, not too sweet, served with whipped cream and fresh fruits, both strawberries and sour blueberries, adding freshness. I am glad that my aunt is living in Blankenberge, therefore I can go downstairs and take the shot with the sunset everyday. I tried and this was the result I got. In here, there is lots of pubs, restaurants around the city . Moreover, you can sit down and chill with your mate. This Blankenberge trip was such a great experience for me and the sunset is incredible. So, don’t miss out when you have a chance to come to Blankenberge. #GetDiscountWithoutLuck Oesterput is a famous old seafood restaurant owned by the Devriendt family, which has been passed down from generation to generation, up until now, it is the 5th generation. The name of the restaurant means Oyster's pot, which is probably because the restaurant started to gain popularity for its quality oysters with a nursery in the middle of the restaurant. But it is also famous for other seafood such as lobster, shrimp, fish, and mussels, which are popular foods in Belgium. For this meal, I ordered the following dishes: ➡️ Vissoep met rouille It is a fish soup served in a whole pot with a separate rouille for you to add yourself. The soup is smooth and thick. The taste and smell are similar to lobster bisque, but with fish and other seafood. Delicious. ➡️ Gegrilde gamba's Note that fresh shrimp is hard to find in Belgium because most restaurants usually use frozen shrimp. When I came to a restaurant that focuses on seafood like this, I had the opportunity to order grilled shrimp to satisfy my craving. Of course, they used fresh shrimp with soft, bouncy meat. They are large sea shrimp grilled to a fragrant aroma. Served with salad No need to cook much, it's already delicious. ➡️ Mosselen "Piet" A large pot of baked mussels cooked with the restaurant's special sauce that is published in the restaurant's cookbook. The sauce is really delicious. It's creamy but flavorful and not too rich. You can choose a side dish, whether it's French fries or bread. #GetDiscountWithoutLuck The west coast of Belgium is a very wide sandy beach. During low tide, it is tiring to walk down to the sea. Therefore, there are many beach bars on the beach, such as Sun Beach Blankenberge. This shop is located in Blankenberge and is a beach bar on the beach. There is no shop, just a partition and tables, chairs, and sofas. The surrounding area is sand, sea water, and sky. It is very refreshing. The menu focuses on drinks such as mocktails, cocktails, and others. The food focuses on snacks to eat with drinks. This time, I ordered 2 mocktails to try. 🍹 Strawberry Mojito - It is a virgin mojito mixed with fragrant strawberry juice. It is sour, sweet, and refreshing with a mint aroma. 🍹 La Camille - This glass has a mixture of strawberry, raspberry, lemon juice, and pineapple juice. It is beautifully decorated and deliciously refreshing. I like it. Because the shop is located outdoors, it has to be closed on days when the weather is not good. Or like during the winter, it is closed for a long time and then reopened from spring to mid-autumn. #GetDiscountWithoutLuck Saltwaters is a restaurant in the same building as Hotel Holiday in Blankenberg. Judging from its location, it is likely to be a hotel restaurant. This hotel is located on the beach with a small road separating it. The restaurant consists of both a building and a temporary shop on the beach with a clear view of the sea. Although this part looks like a temporary extension, it has glass and heaters, making it look solid. The interior is beautifully decorated and comfortable. For this meal, we stopped by to order food, sip drinks, and enjoy the clear sea view. ➡️ Garlic Butter Baked Shrimp This menu is served with French fries. The taste is well-rounded, with a good garlic aroma. The shrimp is fresh, just like being on the beach. I like it. ➡️ Fried Chicken Wings The taste is a bit salty, but it is fried hot, crispy on the outside, soft on the inside, and not greasy. It is very enjoyable to eat. After eating, we ordered hot coffee and hot tea to sit and sip for a long time. This restaurant is a restaurant, not a cafe. #newyearnewtrip The Blankenberge town center is definitely a place that you want to enjoy your shopping as there have a variety of shops, boutiques, and restaurants, making it perfect for a day of shopping or enjoying a meal. The shopping streets are pedestrian-friendly. It is a nice place to walk around and shop. There are plenty of shops that sells local specialties including Belgian waffles, chocolates, and seafood dishes. Must try their local specialties if you are there.

Situated on the Belgian coast along the North Sea. Over here, you will able to see hundreds of yachts and sailing boats. It’s one of the largest recreational harbors on the Belgian coast. The Port of Blankenberge is also a departure point for boat tours and excursions around the coast.

The park is named after King Leopold II of Belgium and is one of Blankenberge’s hidden gems, providing both locals and visitors with a serene place to escape the bustle of the beach and promenade. Leopoldpark is great for families, with playground areas designed for children. It’s a quiet park to chill, enjoy the nature, read and listen to music.

If you are from Brussels, you just need to take a train from Brussels Central Station (Bruxelles-Central) to Blankenberge. The journey takes around 1 hour 15 minutes. If you are from Bruges, you can take a train from Bruges Station to Blankenberge. This journey takes approximately 20 minutes. If you are from Ghent, you can take a train from Ghent St. Pieters Station to Blankenberge with one change in Bruges. The total journey time is approximately 1 hour 30 minutes.

#Sunset spot Belgium Pier is a circular building that juts out into the sea in Blankenberge, Belgium. This building is connected to the beach by a 350-meter long bridge. Along the way, there are chairs to sit and enjoy the view at intervals. When you reach the building, there is a walkway around the building, which is a point where you can look back at the coastline and watch the sunset with the beautiful sea in the foreground. You can walk and enjoy the view and take pictures. Some people also come to set up fishing rods here. Inside the building, there are restaurants, bars, and galleries, but they are open as events that can be booked on the website. They are not open every day. Sometimes there are events. The lighting decorations at night are beautiful. Belgium Pier was first built in 1894, but was burned down by the Germans in 1914. After that, it was restored to its original state and has become a National Heritage Site of Belgium to this day. #afternoonteareview The Silversand Tearoom is located on the beach in Blankenberge, Belgium. If you sit by the window inside the shop, you will see the beach view. However, if it is late spring to early autumn, when the weather is not too cold, the shop also has outdoor seating in front of the shop, as well as a temporary area extending out onto the beach with clear glass windows to provide a clear view. It is suitable for sitting and chilling, listening to the sound of the waves, and having a light meal in the afternoon. The food here has a variety of soups, pastas, salads, fried foods, and of course, there are desserts and drinks to choose from on the menu, as is fitting for a Tearoom. Here is what we ordered: ➡️ Huisgemaakte Tomatensoep met Veel Gehaktballetjes It is a homemade tomato soup made in the true Belgian style, with minced beef shaped into small meatballs. There is also grated cheese to add for a rich and flavorful taste. For us, we poured all the cheese into the bowl provided. When we scooped it up, there was melted cheese that stretched and stuck to the spoon. It's a great combination with bread. ➡️ Wafelfrietjes met Vanille-ijs, Advokaat, Aardbeien en Slagroom The dessert I ordered was Wafelfrietjes, which is waffles, but made into sticks instead of sheets. I like it more than the sheet type because it gives a lot of crispy skin. The stuff here is very delicious. The dough is light and crispy with a beautiful porous inside. The vanilla ice cream that they gave was also delicious. Eat it with fresh strawberries, whipped cream, and advokaat (which is eggnog). It goes well together. For drinks, we ordered both tea and hot coffee to eat with the dessert. Blankenberge, Belgium. In mid-June 2024, the cruise ship was unable to dock at the Irish Waterfront due to large waves, and instead docked at a pier near Bruges. The round-trip bus fare on the cruise ship is US$50 per person, but taking the light rail from the pier to this small town and then taking the train to Bruges only costs US$20 round trip, which is more cost-effective.

#europetrip Blankenberge is a Belgian coastal town with a long beach and promenade located in the Belgian province of West Flanders. It is located just 25 minutes away from Bruges. Blankenberge has a lot of attractions such as Sea Life Blankenberge, Belgium Pier, ZOO Serpentarium and more. If you are in Blankenberge, you must go to the Blankenberge beach which is a long bay with turquoise water and bright sand. There are a lot of bars and restaurants along the beach where you can chill and enjoy the sea breeze.

#dreamvoyage Because we wanted to try the most delicious Mussels to make up for our trip to Belgium, on this trip we stopped by Oesterput in Blankenberge, which is quite a famous restaurant. The coastal city of Belgium has a Coastal Tram running along the Adinkerke – Nieuwport – Oostende – Blankenberge – Knokke route. Get off at the Wenduine Harendijke stop before entering the city of Blankenberge. From the bus stop, walk straight up the hill. You will see a small road that is a pedestrian path along the hill. There are trees covering it like an open forest. Turn right and walk straight for a while. You will see the restaurant on the right. ****-Menu ordered-**** ➡️ 4 Kings of the Sea – This dish consists of half a Canadian Lobster, Snow Crab, King Crab, and Langoustine cooked in garlic butter sauce. Served on a hot pan. The ingredients are magnificent, worthy of the name of the king of the sea. After trying it, I must say that it is so delicious that you will forget to breathe. ...so happy to the point of tears. The freshness, sweetness, firmness, and bounciness of the lobster/crab/shrimp meat are the best. It goes well with the flavor of the garlic butter, which is incredibly perfect. It is fragrant and rich, but not heavy or greasy at all. It makes it easy to eat and you will finish it without realizing it. I am extremely impressed. ➡️ Mosselen “Piet” – We came here for this… The mussel menu here is like many other restaurants in Belgium, with a variety of choices, both natural flavors, baked in white wine…etc. But I have never seen “Piet” anywhere else, and it is a bit more expensive than the others. It seems that they are proud to present it. I can guess that Piet must be the name of the owner who came up with this menu recipe (555). So I had to order it to try. After tasting it, I can confirm that this pot of mussels is the most delicious of all the restaurants I have eaten at on this trip… The black mussels are plump and beautiful, cooked to softness, and do not smell fishy at all. Baked in a sauce that looks creamy, with a light texture, not too thick, not greasy, but with a rich and well-balanced flavor. Enhanced with herbs and spices, it goes together so well. It was so delicious that after finishing the mussels, I had to ask for the free bread to dip the remaining soup at the bottom of the pot and continue eating.
