Bologna: A Tasty Journey Through Arches, Towers, and Tradition
My visit to Bologna was a beautiful blend of culture, history, and culinary delights. I started my day in the heart of the city at Piazza Maggiore, where I admired the grandeur of the Basilica di San Petronio and watched the lively bustle of daily life.
Wandering through the endless porticoes, I felt the city’s unique rhythm. I stopped at Quadrilatero, the historic market district, to browse stalls full of local cheeses, cured meats, and fresh pasta. The scent of mortadella and freshly baked focaccia tempted me at every corner. For lunch, I found a small osteria where I savored hand-made tagliatelle al ragù — a dish that tasted even better than I imagined.
In the afternoon, I visited the Archiginnasio, once the main building of the University of Bologna, and admired its frescoed halls and wooden anatomy theatre. Later, I relaxed in the peaceful Giardini Margherita, where locals were enjoying the warm spring sun. Bologna’s charm lies not only in its sights but also in its everyday life — authentic, welcoming, and rich with flavor. I left the city with a full heart and even fuller stomach.
