Exploring the Timeless Beauty of Bolzano: A City Walk Through History and Architecture
Bolzano, the gateway to the Dolomites, offered a delightful city walk that blended history, culture, and stunning architecture. We thoroughly enjoyed exploring its vibrant piazzas, each with its own unique charm. Piazza Walther, the heart of the city, impressed us with its lively atmosphere and the striking Cathedral of Santa Maria Assunta, featuring a mix of Gothic and Romanesque styles. Strolling through the old town, we admired the colorful facades of medieval buildings, intricate frescoes, and ornate balconies that reflected the city's rich heritage and blend of Italian and Austrian influences. The narrow cobblestone streets led us to hidden courtyards, elegant arches, and bustling markets, making every turn a visual treat. Bolzano’s architecture told a story of its multicultural past, making our walk through the city an unforgettable experience.

This is not Switzerland, this is Italy❓🫢
I'll introduce you to "Dolomiti", which was the top 1 among Italian travel destinations.
It was the best Italian travel destination I've ever been to, and it's a travel destination I definitely want to visit again later.
⛰️ There are still quite a few people who are not familiar with the Italian Dolomites, but these days, it seems to be becoming well-known through word of mouth.
To be exact, the places I went to were Ortisei, Santa Cristina, and Seceda.
The Dolomites are bigger than you think, and there are many travel destinations inside.
So, some people even go on a month-long Dolomiti tour.
Lunch on the terrace while looking at the scenery in Ortisei,
Seceda, a rock mountain created by beautiful nature,
Santa Cristina, where you can see beautiful scenery no matter where you turn your head.
All three of these places were great.
Since the three routes are close together, it would be good to visit them all in one course.
How about "Dolomiti", where you can feel nature instead of the big Italian cities? You'll find out why people who have been there choose it as their life's travel destination🩵

Bolzano, Italy 🚠Take the cable car to see the autumn colors
#外游
Another must-do in Bolzano is to take a cable car ride.
There are three cable car lines in Bolzano, including Colle (Kohlern), Renon (Ritten) and San Genesio (Jenesien). The Colle line is the oldest manned cable car in the world, having been in operation since 1908.
I chose the Bolzano-Renon route. The journey is very long, 4556 meters long. The 12-minute journey has super beautiful scenery along the way, especially in autumn, it is definitely worth it!
We quickly went up from Bolzano to the Soprabolzano cable car station, where we continued our journey by taking the train to Renon.
The altitude here is 1,220 meters and the air is exceptionally fresh.

Hiking in Italy: Visit Parco Naturale Puez-Odle in Autumn
#Hiking route recommendation #Overseas travel
The Dolomiti Mountains in northern Italy span five provinces and include several nature reserves.
Among them, the famous one is the saw-shaped Parco Naturale Puez-Odle. The colors of the mountains are beautiful in the autumn at the end of October!
There are numerous hiking trails in the nature park (difficulty: from suitable for family trails, mountain bike trails, to those that satisfy mountain climbing enthusiasts)
That day, we set out from Santa Maddalena in Val Di Funes and took bus number 339 (which only runs until the end of October) to Zanserhütte, the starting point of many hiking trails in Parco Naturale Puez-Odle.
The route for this day was the classic Adolf Munkel Weg route, starting from Zannes (bus stop location), via trails 6, 35, 36, and finally back to the starting point in Zannes.
The whole journey takes about three hours, from the starting point at an altitude of 1,680 meters to the highest point of the route at 1,902 meters. This route can be completed by ordinary people, and along the way you will be at the foot of the spectacular Puez Odle peaks.
🔶Itinerary suggestions🔶
But I set out on a weekday so there weren't too many people. Although I did meet other hikers along the way, solo hikers need to make adequate preparations before setting out, and the map route should be determined in advance.
Moreover, the temperature in the mountains is quite cold, so you should bring more warm clothes. Also, there are no supply stations along the way (there is a great restaurant at the starting point, but the others are closed in October), so you must prepare enough food and water in advance.

Museum MMM Corones, we have traveled thousands of miles just to get to this authentic place on the top of the Alps
After traveling thousands of miles to climb Plan de Corones, which is located at an altitude of 2275 meters, I specially went to visit MMM Corones, a museum on the peak of the Alps 😍😍. Standing on the balcony of the museum you can enjoy the magnificent view of the Alps 👍🏼
The museum is designed for mountaineering enthusiasts. The exhibits include art paintings of some mountains, mountaineering equipment, mountaineering books and notes, etc. 💗The museum was designed by the world-renowned architect Zaha Hadid ~ It looks like a screen, showing the beautiful scenery of the snow-capped mountains.
The museum will only be open to the public during the ski season, because only during the ski season is there a cable car to the top of the mountain to reach the museum. 🤭If you want to see the museum’s appearance in other seasons, you really have to hike up the mountain. #goout #italytravel #italy

## [Bolzan
## [Bolzano, meets the "Olympic town" in Italy]
Bolzano is the capital of South Tyrol in northern Italy, close to the Austrian border and north-northwest of Venice. Since 1964 it has been the bishop's residence of the newly established Catholic Church of the State of Polzano. It is a tourist attraction and is known for its attractions in the Alps. It is also the only city in Italy that speaks German. The street name is bilingual and is a small antique town. Similar to most European towns, there are churches, vintage buildings, and a square.
There is a saying that Bolzano is a very strange city. It is close to Austria and has many ski resorts. Most of the locals speak German and the restaurant menu also has German. It seems to the Italians that there is a German sentiment; in the eyes of the Germans, it is a good place to spend a holiday in Italy. However, for our rushed tourists, the feeling is not strong, only that the architectural style of the building is indeed full of the style of the Austrian town.
The town is also in the ZTL area, so I found an underground car park to park the car and walk to Watt Square. Bolzano Cathedral is right next to the Walter Square, a Romanesque church that was built in the 12th century and is considered one of the most outstanding Gothic buildings. Watt Square is named after the European medieval poet Walther von der Vogelweide, standing in the middle of the square. There are restaurants and restaurants around the square. The statue is backed by flowers and looks forward to the majestic cathedral.
Due to its border with Austria, it is also compatible with many Austrian styles. The building is full of the style of the Austrian town, and the goods on the street are also full of German and Austrian characteristics. Even some snacks continue the tradition of the Austro-Hungarian Empire.

Bolzano – Where Alpine soul meets Italian heart 🇮🇹🏔️✨
Bolzano, the captivating capital of South Tyrol, is a place where two cultures, three languages, and a thousand years of history blend into one unforgettable experience. Imagine sipping espresso in a lively piazza, then riding a cable car to Alpine villages — all in one afternoon.
Surrounded by the Dolomites, Bolzano is a city of contrasts: Gothic cathedrals and modern design, apple orchards and chic boutiques, hearty Tyrolean fare and Italian fine dining. It’s also home to the famous Ötzi the Iceman, Europe’s oldest mummy, housed at the South Tyrol Museum of Archaeology.
🌿 Why visit? Bolzano is the gateway to the Dolomites, yet it has the charm and accessibility of a small Italian town. A paradise for foodies, hikers, wine lovers, and culture seekers alike.
📌 Travel Tips:
✅ Don’t miss the cable car to Renon/Ritten for stunning mountain views and Earth pyramids.
✅ Visit Piazza Walther, the beating heart of the city, especially during markets and festivals.
✅ Explore the Laubengasse (Via dei Portici) for historic arcades and shopping.
✅ Perfect base to explore Lago di Caldaro, Eppan, and Castel Roncolo.
Bolzano isn’t just a destination — it’s a harmonious dance of north and south, past and present, mountains and Mediterranean magic 🍷🌄

Parkhotel Laurin in Italy
If you're planning a trip to Italy, make sure to save this place!
We stayed here in the city of Bolzano, and the Parkhotel Laurin is located right in the city center, close to convenience stores and restaurants. When we entered the room, we were absolutely amazed—it was stunning! The view was great, the bed was soft, and there’s a garden behind the hotel where you can take a stroll. There’s also a swimming pool, and most importantly, the breakfast offers a wide variety of options. My favorite was their freshly squeezed orange juice. The staff here provided excellent service as well.

Italy is already looking forward to the glorious summer in the Dolomites!!
If you're torn between Switzerland, Austria, and the Dolomites, I strongly recommend the Dolomites. While Switzerland and Austria each have their own charm, the Dolomites' natural beauty and unique allure undoubtedly make it the best choice.
🌟 Best Travel Time
The best season to visit the Dolomites is summer, especially from June to September. During this time, the mountain slopes are adorned with blooming wildflowers, creating picturesque scenery. Although autumn is also enchanting, summer truly showcases the Dolomites' captivating charm.
🗓️ Recommended Duration
To fully experience the beauty of the Dolomites, a 5-day itinerary is ideal. If you're short on time, a 3-day trip can still offer a glimpse of its stunning landscapes.
🏨 Accommodation Suggestions
The best place to stay is Ortisei, which is close to major attractions like Val di Funes and Seceda. However, accommodation prices can be high during peak season. For budget travelers, Bolzano is a great alternative, with direct buses to various Dolomites attractions.
🚠 Transportation Tips
Whether you choose to drive or use public transportation, it's recommended to purchase the Dolomites cable car pass. A single-day pass costs €62, while a three-day pass is €135 (usable on any three days within five days). The pass allows unlimited rides on the Dolomites' 140 cable car routes, making travel convenient.
📌 Travel Tips
The Dolomites' attractions are spread out, and buses are the main mode of transportation. If you don't plan to drive, make sure to check bus schedules in advance and allocate enough time to ensure a smooth trip.

Bolzano is the perfect base for a backpacker's trip to the western Dolomites!
#Dolomiti #Bolzano #Soprabolzano
This article is written based on a Dolomiti backpacking trip.
It would be good to rent a car, but I traveled the Dolomites by public transportation. You can enjoy the Dolomites sufficiently with public transportation.
💙 The Dolomites are divided into the western and eastern parts, and Bolzano is a base for the western part, and it has cheap accommodations and good public transportation.
If you take a bus to Ortisei, the town where Seceda and Alpedisiusi are located, you can arrive in about 1 hour and 30 minutes. The bus interval was every hour.
♥️ Bolzano has the Bolzano Cathedral and many restaurants in the city. It is adjacent to Austria and Germany, so you can also taste Austrian and German food.
💛 Take a cable car to Soprabolzano. There is a very small train running in Soprabolzano, which is located at a high altitude. It is also fun to take a train and see the nearby towns.
💕Although it was a major city, Bolzano had a lot to see and eat.

Bolzano Italy
Tucked away in northern Italy, Bolzano isn’t just a city—it’s a hidden gem where two worlds meet. One foot in Italian charm, the other in Alpine serenity. It’s the kind of place that sneaks into your heart without asking for permission.
The first thing you notice? The air. Fresh, crisp, and almost too perfect to be real. The streets are like something out of a fairytale—clean, colorful, lined with buildings that whisper stories from centuries ago. Walk through Piazza Walther, and you’ll see locals sipping espresso, chatting softly, and soaking up the sun like it’s a ritual.
What makes Bolzano special isn’t just its beauty, but its balance. It’s where mountain and city, old and new, Italian flair and Austrian precision all live in harmony. Just a short ride away, the Dolomites rise like ancient guardians, offering trails, views, and silence that speaks louder than words.
Whether you’re exploring a quiet alley, catching a golden sunset over the peaks, or just watching life unfold from a café seat—you’ll find yourself falling for Bolzano. Not in a loud, dramatic way, but in the gentle, lasting way that stays with you long after you’ve left.

An artistic hotel - Hotel Greif 4 Star Hotel in Bolzano
Hotel Greif is a charming 4-star hotel with an excellent location, just a 5-minute walk from the train station. However, do note that the road leading to the hotel is a stone-paved street, which makes pulling luggage a bit challenging.
The check-in and check-out process was smooth, and we were pleasantly surprised when the reception allowed us to check in early at around 12 PM. However, we decided to leave our luggage and head out to explore the city first.
The room was very spacious and beautifully designed with artistic elements. After reading the hotel’s introduction, I discovered that each room was uniquely designed by a different artist, which made our stay feel even more special. The bathtub was a great addition, adding extra comfort to our stay.
Breakfast was impressive, offering a wide variety of high-quality options. A kind and attentive staff member also served hot food on demand, which enhanced the dining experience.
One downside was the shared sauna, which was open to all genders and not private, so we decided not to use it. Additionally, there was only one USB port in the room, which made charging our devices a bit inconvenient, especially since we accidentally left our universal adapter at our previous hotel. Unfortunately, the hotel did not have any chargers available to borrow.
Overall, our stay at Hotel Greif was very enjoyable. Despite a few minor inconveniences, the excellent location, spacious rooms, and great service made it a memorable experience. We would definitely consider returning in the future.

View of the past and present
So many changes occurred over the past decades.
It is quite hard to imagine that the modern crowded city of today was once sparsely populated. Time has rendered nearly every corner of the city with a breath of vibrant modernity, transforming its skyline with colorful and sleek structures. Yet, despite these sweeping changes, traditional elements remain interwoven with the contemporary landscape, standing as quiet reminders of the city’s rich and beautiful history and cultural heritage.

Flowers in the sun
Wonderful to see flowers in the winter. The winter in this area is rather cold, the normal greeny color is often wiped out early November leaving the entire area in the dark gray and even the white snow for weeks.
It was a nice sunny Sunday that we decided to hit the trail in the nearby mountain. At the end of the journey, we were excited to see some colorful flowers, though planted by someone.
That also means that the spring is coming to this region, and the green will be back soon.

The most memorable place during my trip to Europe is the Italian Alps, the Dolomites. I was happy to travel around from Trichime to various places. Since I went when the weather was good, I was able to see all the peaks well, and when I came down to Collier, I felt really good. You should definitely go there. I also wrapped the meat and grilled it. It was more delicious than Outback^^ #Dolomite Trekking #Dolomite #Trichime #Italy Travel

#Overseas travel #Italy travel #Dolomite #Italy travel destination recommendation
I visited the Dolomites located in northern Italy. It was a truly fantastic experience. ⛰️✨
As soon as I arrived at the Dolomites, I was amazed by the magnificent mountain range and green meadows that unfolded before my eyes. It was so beautiful that even if I took a picture, I couldn't capture it all.
The small towns in the Dolomite region were also really charming. It was also a great pleasure to take a leisurely walk while tasting local food. In particular, the locally made cheese and wine were really delicious.
I recommend the 'Dolomite', a wonderful travel destination where you can enjoy both nature and culture! 🍃🇮🇹
