The concept of Ski In & Ski Out is very attractive to ski enthusiasts. There is a ski resort right outside the door and a cable car station next to it. After skiing, you can go directly back to the hotel to rest. It is convenient and fast! This time we stayed at ANA Crowne Plaza Resort Appi Kogen in Appi Kogen. Here is a detailed experience sharing to let you know the pros and cons of this hotel. 🗻About accommodation at Appi Kogen Ski Resort - There are three hotels in Appi Kogen Ski Resort, all of which belong to the IHG InterContinental Hotels Group: 🏨 ANA InterContinental Resort Appi Kogen 🏨 ANA Crowne Plaza Resort Appi Kogen 🏨 ANA Holiday Inn Resort Appi Kogen - These hotels are located in front of the ski resort, and the cable car station is just a few steps away from the room⛷️, realizing true Ski In & Ski Out, attracting many ski enthusiasts to stay. (All at your own expense) We chose ANA Crowne Plaza Resort Appi Kogen, which was renamed in December 2021. Its biggest selling point is the convenience of Ski In & Ski Out. It takes about 1.5 hours by bus from JR Morioka Station to the hotel entrance. The transportation is relatively convenient and very friendly to skiers. However, the check-in experience was not satisfactory. 🏢 Hotel exterior and room facilities - The hotel's exterior is khaki in color, which contrasts sharply with the white snow, but it lacks aesthetic appeal and looks old and dull 😕. - We stayed in a Premium Twin Beds with 2 Sofa Beds room. The room conditions are as follows: - The space is large, but the facilities are old. The carpet, wardrobe, table, cabinet and sofa all have obvious signs of age. The bathroom is a typical Japanese style with all-plastic material. - The room is clean and odorless. After turning on the humidifier at night, the sleep quality is pretty good🛌 - The rooms with mountain views can see a silvery white snow, the scenery is still very charming❄️ 🍽️ Dining Experience This was our biggest disappointment, the dining experience did not feel at all commensurate with the room rate. - Buffet dinner and breakfast experience provided by the hotel: - The restaurant is filled with a strong smell of oil smoke, which makes people feel a little uncomfortable from the moment they enter the door🤢 - The buffet restaurant is overcrowded and you need to "fight" for food with other guests🍽️ - The food quality is average, it feels like the standard of a cheap canteen. Although it is filling, the overall experience is very poor 🥲 - After eating, I was full of fumes and had to go back to the room to take a shower again🛁 🛁 Bathhouse and hot spring experience - There are simple bathing areas and pools on site, where you can relax after skiing, but the facilities are rather basic. - Guests staying overnight will receive a free coupon for Shirakaba Onsen, which is about 10 minutes away by shuttle bus: - The Baihua Hot Spring is an open-air design with multiple hot spring pools. There are also shuttle buses to and from the ski resort or nearby stations. It is super convenient! - The service of the pick-up driver was impressive. He carried two suitcases weighing more than 20 kg in one hand, and moved them from the car to the hotel lobby without dropping them. It shows various scenes depending on angle of view. Also known as “Nanbu-Katafuji” (the Nanbu domain’s mountain with one side of the flank shape uniquely resembling Mt. Fuji), it is famous especially for its beautifully spreading skirt of the east ridge and the rugged west ridgeline. On Mt. Iwate, there are seven unique climbing trails. The feature here is that a variety of climbing experiences can be enjoyed depending on how you combine climbing and descending routes. From the top, a whole view of wide-ranging Northern Tohoku region can be seen. And the numerous stone Buddha statues as well as the Inner Sanctuary of Iwatesan-jinja Shrine transmit a tradition of mountain worship to the present day.

Hachimantai is a famous scenic spot in Iwate Prefecture. Of course it's a popular tourist destination, but many people also come to climb the mountain, and there were many visitors of all ages, from young to old. We shared three dishes: a selection of five types of sashimi, today's special sea urchin pasta, and charcoal-grilled Hinai chicken. Every dish was incredibly delicious 🥹🫶 The presentation and plating were stunning, and even the accompanying bread was of exceptional quality 🫢 If you stay here, you absolutely must try it 😆🍴

I stayed at the ANA InterContinental Appi Kogen Resort 🕊️ As a complimentary service for guests, you can enjoy "Apero Time" on the lobby floor from 4:30 PM to 6:00 PM 🤍 Before dinner, you can order drinks like champagne, wine, cocktails, and beer 🍺. They also serve an appetizer plate, which pairs perfectly with the drinks, making it a delight for alcohol enthusiasts 🤤. For those who don't drink alcohol, there are plenty of mocktails and soft drinks available, which was a fantastic touch 🤗.

In winter, you can soak in the open-air bath while admiring the snowy landscape, which is truly delightful☺️ Next to the open-air bath, there is a reclining bath where you can relax and unwind🌱 In the changing room, complimentary drinks are provided, including not only mineral water but also carbonated beverages and lactic acid drinks, which was a pleasant surprise🤍

Enjoyed afternoon tea at ANA InterContinental Appi Kogen Resort 🫖🤍 Actually, this is a complimentary service available to all guests 🫢 Isn't it amazing to have a three-tiered afternoon tea as part of the hotel's service? 🥺 The selection isn't overly focused on sweets, making it appealing to everyone, and the desserts themselves were mildly sweet and absolutely delicious 🧁. There was a wide variety of drinks to choose from, including flavored teas and rooibos tea, and you could even get refills, making it a delightful experience ☕️. The service is available from 2:00 PM to 3:30 PM 🕰️

From Hakodate Station to Morioka Station, I took the Hayabusa from Shin-Hakodate-Hokuto Station and arrived in a total of 2 hours and 27 minutes 🚅 ☆ Yakiniku Segawa I went to Yakiniku Segawa, which has been selected as one of the 100 best yakiniku restaurants. I ordered a medium-sized plate of salt-grilled meat, tempura meat, pickled vegetables, and beer. I especially like the liver. This time I visited alone, so that's all I ordered, but next time if I come with a group, I'd like to order steak. Many of the customers around me were ordering steak after all. ☆ Morioka Mikoda Morning Market It seems to open from 5:00, but I arrived around 5:40. ★ Kigu-no-bo First, I ordered the hittsumi I was looking for. Iwate Prefecture. I visited during Golden Week. I decided to go there on a whim after a local acquaintance recommended it. Apparently, you can enjoy the snow corridor only during this time of year. "Aspite" is the name of a volcano shaped like a shield, and it is a 27km long driveway that crosses Hachimantai, straddling both Iwate and Akita prefectures. The road is closed during the winter. It will be open from mid-April. The snow that has accumulated during the winter forms a wall several meters high, and you can enjoy a spectacular drive. (It will end once the snow melts, so it is only during this season✨mid-April to early May) ···I was looking forward to it, but the road was closed due to bad weather (snow)😭😭 I was shocked that something like that could happen... (It was certainly cold though...) Several groups of friends made a U-turn... It was also listed in the recommended drive guide of the station rental car. If only I could have checked the information beforehand...😢 (I had planned to go straight to Akita, but I was forced to change my route.
