Kalaw Railway Station might just be one of the cutest little train stations I’ve ever stepped into 💕 Located right in the heart of Kalaw town, this spot is like a slice of history frozen in time. Red brick building, old-school signage, sleepy platform… it honestly felt like something out of an old movie 🎞️⛰️ I didn’t take the train but just being there was already an experience. The atmosphere was super calm, surrounded by trees and soft mountain breeze. I loved how quiet everything was… only one or two trains pass each day, so the place is never crowded. Just me, a few locals, and the gentle sound of nature 🌲🍃 Sometimes you’ll spot a small stall or two near the entrance, selling local fruits or light snacks—especially when a train’s about to come through. But even when it’s quiet, the whole station just has this slow, nostalgic charm that makes you want to pause and take it all in 💭 Definitely worth a quick visit even if you're not taking a train. Kalaw is one of the most popular highland in Myanmar. It’s also known as Pine wood city. The weather is great #sunny but temperature is around 20 to 27 even in the summer. You can avoid heat from the other towns. You can visit to Kalaw station, View point, kalaw clock tower, market and there is so many cafe which you can take the instagramable photos. I would like to recommend cafe dream, kalaw cafeyard and kalaw heritage hotel. There are many different seasonal fruits in kalaw market. Very fresh and delicious and also cheap. People are very friendly. You can hire Tuk Tuk or rental car to tour around Kalaw. It’s one of the city which has developed tourism in Myanmar. There are many hotels, Inns and resorts. I highly recommend to visit Kalaw and I love that city. #Kalaw

I will introduce the beautiful natural city of Kalaw, located roughly halfway between Nay Pyi Taw, the capital of Myanmar, and Mandalay. From Kalaw, you can also access Pindaya Caves, a cave with many Buddha statues inside. On the way to Pindaya Caves, the earth is dyed in warm colors such as orange and yellow, and the gradation and the contrast with the green of the trees and the blue of the sky are captivating to the viewer. You can get to Pindaya Caves by bus, but it is more convenient to charter a car. As you can see in the fifth photo, the road is not paved with concrete, but it is flat and there were no problems with shaking. There are 3 routes, whether by own car to the city or taking a commercial bus to there. The last way is by plane where it lands at the nearest city and you take a car ride to Kalaw ~ There are great hotels that you can even find here on trip.com for less than $50 a night!! They have many popular cafes and flower fields. Their wine garden is also very popular, you can have quality local made wine there for an affordable price. They also have a playground where you can zipline, etc. The vibe is very similar to Chiang Mai Thailand but a very less popular location. As the pictures suggest, I went on a family trip :). This place is compatible for family/couples/friends/solo trip. Not to mention all the popular places of Shan State being in the Area, it’s a must visit stop!

They also have a cafe and a restaurant where my parents sat at while waiting for us. The location is a little far from the city area but that’s what makes the views worthwhile too! Kalaw Kalaw is located at an altitude of 1,300 m above sea level in central Myanmar. The town is situated in the Taunggyi area, east of Inle Lake. You can get here by train as there is a railway station. The city was founded by the British as a holiday destination for the officials and officers. The climate in Kalaw is mild, so wealthy locals had begun to come to the city for recreation after the formation of Burma. Today, there are many excursions around the city to get acquainted with the lifestyle and traditions of the people of Myanmar and visit the ancient monasteries. Walking routes to Inle Lake that last for several days are quite popular. Along the way, tourists stop in the villages of local ethnic minorities Danu, Palaung, Pa'O, and others to learn about their way of life, which has remained unchanged for centuries.

🍀 If you love nature, you will love this hotel. This is not a five-star hotel, more like a family home. Staff are polite and they are willing to facilitate most of my requests. Instead of staying in a hotel, I felt like I was visiting my relative’s home. The weather is so good in kalaw. I stayed in this Hotel for 3 nights Comfy beds, quiet environment. Situated on the hillside of small-town Kalaw and can see the pine forest from the hotel. Staffs are very helpful, and they welcome with big smile. I most love the fresh air and it has a beautiful garden with blooming roses and plants. It is so beautiful, and I love their bungalow room. Amazing and quiet environment to spend your holiday. Breakfast is not special, but you still can have a nice breakfast with coffee, and local Myanmar tea. Kalaw is very high above sea level and night temperature in February was between 8 to 12 C and no place in Myanmar has central heating. Make sure to bring warm clothes. 📍Kawlaw Hill Lodge, Shan State, Myanamar As the name suggests, it is a lodge located on the top of a hill. It was not so great just now, but the view was really good. We wore the traditional hat provided in the room to avoid the hot sun, and we also tried on the local traditional costume. There is also a farm experience program.
