📍 Review of a 7-day, 6-night Georgia trip from April 25 to May 1, 2023. The time we went was the change of seasons, meaning the snow was melting and entering spring. The weather was quite unstable. On this trip, we encountered rain, sun, and snow. However, we encountered light rain almost every day. Fortunately, it didn't rain all day. It only lasted for a short while. —- 💸The total cost of the trip was approximately 52,000 baht**Only for our part. All expenses were split 5 between us and my friend. The only difference was the airfare that we didn't purchase at the same time + shopping expenses. —- 📍 There were 5 of us on this trip, flying with Qatar Airways both ways. Stopover at Doha, ticket price is 27k - 32k (book with many friends but not at the same time, price fluctuates a lot) —- 🚐 The route is Tbilisi 1 night > Gudauri 1 night > Kazbegi 2 nights > Tbilisi 2 nights We booked a car with a driver guide for a total of 4 days because we thought it would be safer not to drive ourselves. We will not charge any additional fees later because everything is included. Our guide, Merab Kvitsiani, is a very good driver. The car can carry all the stuff (5 people, 5 24-inch suitcases). We can go up the mountain without having to change cars. We can also climb up to take pictures on the roof. She can speak English. She can recommend Unseen attractions, take pictures repeatedly, recommend restaurants, and help translate Georgian with locals. —- 📌 Importantly, when we go on a trip and someone runs up to us to take pictures or call us to get in their car, the guide will help us to brush it off and say that we are with them. There was only one local restaurant in Gudauri that was really too salty to eat. Jvari Monastery is located on the top of the mountain 30 mins drive from Tbilisi. The highlight if this place is two different color of river collided. It was raining very hard on the day we went to Jvari monastery. We barely see any views since it was very foggy. Fortunately we were able to see two rivers meets. I would have like this place more if we had better weather. But good thing was it was no one there so we enjoyed ourselves. Entrance fee: Free

Mtskheta (მცხეთა) is a city in Mtskheta-Mtianeti province of Georgia. One of the oldest cities of Georgia and its former capital, it is located approximately 20 km (12 mi) north of Tbilisi, at the confluence of the Mtkvari and Aragvi rivers. Currently a small provincial capital, for nearly a millennium until the 5th century AD, Mtskheta was a large fortified city, a significant economical and political centre of the Kingdom of Iberia.

The renovated old houses surrounding the Mtskheta cathedral transformed in small taverns, coffee shops, wine bars and souvenir shops are very offering for many tastes. The cathedral itself with its tall stone wall is majestic. A must see at about 24 km near Tbilisi. #givethanks #givethanks

Not only is it a beautiful view of the town below, of the two rivers mixing, and of the mountains surrounding - but also in the distance on a clear day you can also clearly see Kazbegi and the Caucasian mountains. A bit crowded inside but beautiful to see. #givethanks #givethanks

This cathedral worth visiting. During our visit, it was an active church with more than one wedding service simultaneously taking place alongside a general daily service for local worshippers. The vast majority of tourists showed due respect for those taking part in these services. One hopes that this is always the case. #givethanks #givethanks

#summervacay Exploring Jvari Monastery in Mtskheta-Mtianeti, Georgia, was one of those peaceful, scenic kind of adventures that just sticks with you. Perched on top of a hill, the monastery isn’t huge or flashy, but the view is next level. You can see where the Aragvi and Mtkvari rivers meet, and it’s honestly kind of magical, especially when the weather’s clear. The vibe here is super calm. The stone walls and old architecture give it that quiet, sacred feel, but you don’t have to be religious to enjoy it. It’s more about soaking in the history and that epic panorama. The wind was strong when I went, but it added to the whole dramatic setting. It’s not a long visit, maybe an hour or so, but it’s one of those spots that just feels special. Getting there is pretty easy if you’ve got wheels or join a quick tour. Totally recommend it if you're anywhere near Mtskheta or Tbilisi. Such a serene little stop!

#summervacay Stopped by Zhinvali Reservoir in Mtskheta-Mtianeti Province, and honestly, it was way more stunning than I expected. You’re just driving along the Georgian Military Highway, and suddenly, this huge lake with crazy turquoise water shows up out of nowhere. It’s got that unreal, Instagram-perfect look without even trying. The water is so clear and blue it almost looks fake. Mountains all around, reflections on the surface, it’s seriously a postcard. There’s a few viewpoints along the road where you can stop, take pics, or just chill and take it all in. Right nearby is Ananuri Fortress, which makes the whole stop even better. Old stone towers, archways, and more epic views of the lake. It’s the kind of place where you just want to sit for a while and do nothing. It’s not really a “do stuff” spot, more of a soak-in-the-scenery kind of vibe. Perfect break on a road trip. Peaceful, beautiful, and totally worth pulling over for.

#summervacay Exploring Abudelauri Lakes in Mtskheta-Mtianeti Province felt like stepping into some kind of fantasy movie. These lakes are way up in the mountains near the village of Roshka, and getting there is part of the adventure, bumpy roads, a bit of a hike, but so worth it. What’s wild is that there are three lakes, each a different color, green, blue, and white. Yep, nature out here showing off. The colors are super vibrant and change depending on the light and season. I couldn’t stop staring, it’s that beautiful. The hike to reach them is pretty chill, just long enough to feel like you earned the view. Plus, you’re surrounded by insane scenery, jagged peaks, alpine meadows, and total silence except for the wind. No shops, no crowds, just untouched mountain magic. Bring snacks, water, and all your camera storage, you’ll want pics of everything. If you're into nature and don’t mind a bit of a trek, Abudelauri is an absolute gem.

From the first light of dawn to the sunset glow, the scenery of snow-capped mountains surrounding you, with shifting light and shadows, plus a hearty breakfast, starts each day joyfully—especially the Rooms Hotel. It takes about 2 hours from Tbilisi, the capital of Georgia, to get to Jvari Monastery, one of the holiest churches in Georgia. You can take a Bolt taxi to the top of the hill 🚕 It was built in 590. You can enter the inside, and its overwhelming holiness will leave you speechless. . The view around the monastery is amazing, as it is on top of a hill. It's like a healing place in a dungeon. It's just a 10-minute walk away but feels much more quiet and local. The convent is small, with a nice garden and an old church where I saw several people praying during my visit - no big tourist crowds, just monks and locals going about their religious routines. They don't allow photos inside the main church, which helps maintain the quiet atmosphere. The interior is dim with old frescoes and the scent of incense. Outside there's a shrine marking where St. Nino is buried, plus some friendly stray dogs that seem to belong there. This place feels more like an active religious site than a tourist attraction. While Svetitskhoveli impresses with its size and history, Samtavro offers a more humble, authentic experience. Plan for about 20-30 minutes here, dress modestly (women need headscarves, everyone should cover shoulders and knees), and speak quietly to respect those who come here to pray.
