We had a long weekend in Nandaihe and spent some time in SEATOPIA during the days. You can find everything here from Hotels, bars, restaurants, coffee shops and the beach. There is a sailing club where you can take classes and you can rent bikes to move around. The area is open to visitors even if you don’t live on the premises different from the nearby Aranya where you need a ticket to enter. Bright & Bay coffee We had a lunch brake here with coffee, beer and cakes. The coffee shop is super nice and has both indoor and outdoor seating. We found seating outside and it was a hot day however luckily there was some wind for us. Sunrise This was a bar at the beach. We only came during daytime but should be very cool in the evenings. We had some nice mock tails there is very nice surroundings. It almost felt like we were somewhere outside of China. Super well made. Rooftop bar at Marriott hotel We came here for afternoon tea. The bar has super nice cocktails, a live band and rooftop pool access. We wanted to take swim in the pool but it was very crowded at the time we were there. It’s the tourism spot in Qinhuangdao, where you can see the mountains and lake with waterfall. I visited there in May 2019; very crowded in National holidays and Spring Festival. This scenic valley has limited transportation. You need to have private resources to get into this beautiful place to enjoy the swinging pendulum on the top of the mountain and glass bridges that link the different peaks of those mountains.

This part of The Great Wall is called Laolongtou or “Dragon’s Head”. It is located in Shanhaiguan District of Qinhuangdao and is the part of the wall that extends about 20 meters into the Bohai sea. It is definitely worth a visit. Once called the beginning of the Great Wall, the dragon’s head makes for some cool photographs. Easily accessed by fast train from most major cities. The beach is not great but you can get your feet wet and enjoy a cold drink or meal by the sea. The town is not very foreigner-friendly so be sure to call ahead to see if your chosen hotel will accept you. Everyone dressed up as the characters from the animation movie Coco and we set out to make a ghost train scareing people as they passed through.
