Magnificent island of Rhodes 🇬🇷
#islands
My summer vacation on the Island of Rhodes was truly unforgettable! 🌞 Located in the Aegean Sea, Rhodes offers a perfect blend of history, stunning beaches, and vibrant local culture. The island's rich history is evident in the medieval Old Town, which is a UNESCO World Heritage site with its ancient walls and charming streets. Exploring here is free, though some museums and attractions have small entrance fees, usually around €5-€10.
We also spent plenty of time relaxing on the beautiful beaches like Lindos and Anthony Quinn Bay. 🏖️ A visit to the ancient city of Kamiros and the impressive Palace of the Grand Master were highlights. Rhodes is a fantastic destination for both relaxation and exploration.

The Acropolis of Lindos
The Acropolis of Lindos
The Acropolis of Lindos on the island of Rhodes, a remnant of beauty from 400 BC
During the Classical period, the Acropolis of Lindos was dominated by the massive Temple of Athena Lindia, and the scale of the citadel continued to grow throughout the Greek and Roman eras. During the Byzantine period, a church was added to the citadel.
In the 14th century, the Knights Hospitaller built a large fortress on the citadel and reinforced the walls. During the Ottoman Turkish period, the citadel gradually fell into disrepair until it was restored in modern times by Danish, Italian, and Greek archaeologists.
It includes several ruins: the Temple of Athena Lindia, the remains of the citadel gates and colonnades, Roman temple ruins, Byzantine church ruins, the entrance gate of the citadel, and the view of the citadel from St. Paul's Bay.

Island of the Sun
#freehotelstay
The Greek Island of Rhodes is full of fascinating history. It is sometimes called “Island of the Sun” because its patron god was Helios, Greek god of the sun. Rhodes is the ninth largest island in the Mediterranean Sea and boasts one of the most well preserved medieval towns in Europe. The island has been conquered and occupied by many political groups throughout history - the Greeks, the Romans, the Byzantine Empire, the Ottoman Empire, Italians, Germans, and probably more. There is a mix of cultures, history, and architecture throughout the old town. But perhaps one of the most interesting things about Rhodes is that it once boasted one of the seven great wonders of the ancient world - the Colossus of Rhodes statue. Unfortunately, the statue was destroyed a long time ago, but the site of where the Colossus once stood is marked by deer statues. Aside from history, we also found charming cafes and restaurants in old town serving delicious Mediterranean food, so this town can be enjoyed by history buffs and others who just want to enjoy food and shopping 😊. It’s no wonder Rhodes is a UNESCO World Heritage site and one of the most visited destinations in Europe.

Acropolis of Rhodes 😍
#timetotravel
My visit to the Acropolis of Rhodes was a journey into the island's ancient past. Perched on a hill overlooking Rhodes Town, the site's archaeological ruins and panoramic views created a sense of wonder. The Temple of Apollo's remnants were a testament to Rhodes' historical significance. Walking amidst the ancient stones, I felt a connection to those who once stood there centuries ago. The location's usually extended visiting hours allowed me to explore as the sun set, casting a warm glow over the landscape. The Acropolis of Rhodes transported me to an era of myths and legends, and its presence amidst the bustling town made it a captivating blend of history and modernity, offering a unique glimpse into the island's heritage.

Rhodes is a beautiful island located in the southeastern Aegean Sea, known for its stunning natural beauty, rich history, and charming Old Town. The island is the largest in the Dodecanese group of islands and has a diverse landscape that includes rugged mountains, rolling hills, and pristine beaches.
One of the most striking features of Rhodes is its Old Town, which is a UNESCO World Heritage site. The town is surrounded by medieval walls and is home to narrow cobblestone streets, charming squares, and beautiful buildings that showcase the island's rich history. The Palace of the Grand Master of the Knights of Rhodes is a particularly impressive sight, as is the Street of the Knights, which is lined with historic buildings.

Valley of the Butterflies, Rhodes Island, Greece
Butterfly Valley is located on the island of Rhodes, Greece. It is a very beautiful butterfly valley. We can go up to see the natural butterfly flocks there.
- But we have to walk up the mountain to see the butterflies in the valley. But along the way up to the butterfly valley, it is full of lush green trees. And there is a waterfall flowing through the path that we walk up. There will be a wooden bridge for us to walk up comfortably.
- In addition to the waterfall flowing through the butterfly valley, there is also a mineral water path. We have to walk through a cave to experience the natural mineral water in the valley.
- If we want to see the butterflies in the valley, when we walk up, we have to walk up quietly. We will see hundreds of butterflies gathered at various points in the valley.
- On the mountain, in addition to going up to see the butterflies in nature, there is also a cafe in the middle of the forest. We can sit and sip coffee and chill in the beautiful natural atmosphere. #EuropeanTour #vlongTravel

Glystra be
Glystra beach is a beach is a lovely dandy beach located on the Southeastern cost on the island of Rhodes and is a quiet popular sand beach
The coast is the coastal part of an enclosed small bay. It is 210 m long, 35 m wide on average and east-facing. The swimming waters in the first few metres are shallow with a gently sloping sea bed. The ecological status of this coastal water system is classified as important. (source Special Secretariat for Water).
You will find Glystra beach just after Lardos village, on your left hand. The waters here are shallow, so it is also suitable for younger children and kids. Sandwiches and water are available at the little restaurant. On the weekends it becomes a bit more busy as the locals also like to gather at this beach, along with the beach of Lardos.
Winter time is quiet

Amazing Hotel😍
The largest of the twelve Dodecanese islands on the Aegean's eastern edge, Rhodes is also its most popular. The well-preserved medieval city of Rhodes sits at the north of the island of the same name. High rise hotels line the northern and eastern coastlines. Small villages and resorts dot the island's other shores. Whether your interests are beaches, bars or ancient sites, Rhodes offers an abundance of all three. Authentic Greece can be found in the hilly interior of the 50-mile-long island.😍😍#tigeryear2022 #beachlife #staycation #infinitypool #mountainview #nationalpark

Nice stay
The Rhodes Mercure doesn't feel like a normal Mercure hotel and in a good way; it feels more like an independent hotel with a boutique feel to it.
You'll be greeted by a whitewash and clean lobby and ground floor. It really feels modern and chic in this sense. There's also an outdoor pool, which is quite small and an outdoor seating area.
The rooms are on the small size and a tad bit dated, but it seems as if each room has a balcony, which I absolutely loved. The rooms towards the back are not seaview and give to the adjacent hotel, which might deter some people. However the seaview rooms can get noisy at night from the loud music from the nearby clubs.
All in all, a good stay. I loved that there were balconies and the rooms were clean. They were however a bit dated, small and dark. I would stay there again if given the choice as the price was quite affordable for its range! I also loved it's location as it was near restaurants and the beach, so it was very convenient.

Beautiful Rhodes
Rhodes is an island quite far away from the Greek mainland. In fact you can see Turkey just on the other side. The island is lined with amazing and beautiful views of the emerald colored sea. Further lovely beaches dot the coastline. The old city is a marvel to walk around with its medieval era streets the main highlight. The city doesn't seem to be refurbished too much which gives it more authenticity. Finally take a bus or scooter out of the main city towards the islands many fine beaches. The water is crystal clear and it is a joy to swim in. The locals and welcoming and warm and the meals were simply unforgettable.

Nestling a
Nestling at the foot of a steep rock and beautifully surrounded by the sea lies the traditional settlement of Líndos; on the top of the same rock stands a centuries-old acropolis, proudly overlooking the archipelagos. The acropolis bears silent witness to Líndos’ glorious past, a major naval power of ancient times which reputedly had a population of 17,000. The landscape of Líndos encapsulates the essence of Rhodes: a surprisingly felicitous blend of ancient and medieval! With 600,000 visitors annually, Líndos competes with Delphi as the second most visited archeological site in Greece. Enjoy it!
According to tradition the temple of Athena on the acropolis was founded by Danaus, who came to the island with his 50 daughters to escape the rage of the goddess Hera. Follow the same ancient path that the ancient Rhodians took. When you reach the acropolis you will see a 280 BC relief of a Rhodian Trireme (ancient Greek warship) carved into the rock, an indication of the naval power of ancient Rhodes. On the bow of the Trireme stood a statue of General Agesander, sculpted by Pythokritos. Did you know that the first naval code, the famous “Rhodian Naval Code”, a code of international law and one of the most important legal documents in the world was written here in Rhodes? The emperor Antonio wrote of the Rhodian Naval Code: We may rule the world but the Rhodian Code rules the seas!
Through an ancient old gate you enter the world of the magnificent acropolis; on the first level you can see more recent buildings like the 1317 Castle of the Knights of St John, which was built on the foundations of an older Byzantine fortification. There is also the Greek Orthodox Church of St John, built on the ruins of an older church. The Knights significantly strengthened the fortifications of the acropolis, turning Líndos into a powerful fortified castle.

#providence, Rhode Island might not be the first thought that comes to mind when you thing the words vacation. However, this is a nice little New England Town that's located basically between New York City and Boston. If you're spending time in the Northeast, this is a good place to check out. You can enjoy the many bars and restaurants downtown near the State Capitol Building.
