Xinjiang is a place of suffering, so let's talk about the hard truth: a city inspired by a song
Hey guys, is there a song that makes you yearn for a magnificent place far away? For me, it's "The Most Beautiful Place is Still Our Xinjiang." "I've been to many places, but the most beautiful is still our Xinjiang. The pastures are full of flowers, and the oleaster trees shade the villages on the Gobi Desert." The melodious and heroic song paints a poetic picture of Xinjiang. In February, I set foot on this magical land and embarked on a dreamlike journey. Here's my guide. 💕
Attractions
• Urumqi International Grand Bazaar: This place is like a "supermarket" in Xinjiang, full of exotic charm. Colorful buildings, a dazzling array of handicrafts, fragrant roasted naan, and sizzling lamb skewers. As you wander through, the lively cries of vendors make you feel like you're in a Central Asian painting, experiencing the passion and enthusiasm of Xinjiang.
• Tianshan Tianchi Lake: Tianshan Tianchi Lake is like a blue gem 💎 set in the embrace of the mountains. In February, the lake is covered with ice and snow, and the surrounding peaks are dressed in silver. Take a cable car through the sea of clouds and gaze at Bogda Peak. The magnificent snow scene is breathtaking, like walking in a fairyland.
• Xinjiang Museum: The museum's collection is astonishingly rich, from ancient mummies to exquisite silk, each telling the legend of the Silk Road. Here, you can explore the history of the Western Regions, experience the collision of diverse cultures, marvel at the wisdom of the ancients, and embark on a cultural adventure through time and space.
How to get there
• Plane: Fly directly to Urumqi Diwopu International Airport ✈. There are many routes, and after landing, there are airport buses, buses, and taxis that seamlessly connect to the city center, allowing you to start your journey quickly.
• Train: Urumqi Station has many trains 🚂, with magnificent scenery along the way. It's convenient to transfer after getting off the train, making it easy to reach attractions.
• City transportation: The city's buses and BRT are well-connected. There are special tourist buses to Tianchi Lake. Around the Grand Bazaar, it's most enjoyable to stroll around on foot.
What's worth seeing
• Song and dance performances at Urumqi International Grand Bazaar: Every night, the Grand Bazaar has wonderful song and dance performances. The performers are dressed in costumes, spinning and jumping. The cheerful rhythm makes you want to sway, immersing you in a sea of joy and experiencing the charm of the Uyghur culture.
• Blue ice spectacle at Tianshan Tianchi Lake: In the cold February, part of the lake at Tianchi Lake freezes into blue ice. Under the sunlight, the ice surface looks like a dreamy blue crystal, making for stunning photos. The wonders of nature are awe-inspiring.
• Expert lectures at Xinjiang Museum (if available): The museum sometimes holds expert lectures, providing in-depth explanations of the stories behind the artifacts. Participating in these lectures broadens your knowledge and allows you to "dialogue" with history.
Great photo spots
• Urumqi International Grand Bazaar Square: With the characteristic buildings as the background, wear bright ethnic costumes and take a beautiful photo. The exotic charm will make your friends like it countless times.
• Viewing platform at Tianshan Tianchi Lake: Stand at a high point with the blue ice of Tianchi Lake and the snow-capped mountains as the background. Take a photo of people and nature, using light and shadow to highlight the magnificence and create a visual impact.
• Next to the artifacts in the exhibition hall of Xinjiang Museum: In front of the artifact display cases, use soft lighting to take photos of the details of the artifacts, recording historical imprints. Remember to turn off the flash.
