【Rome】A Day in the Romantic City of Rome
Rome, the city of romance that everyone dreams of visiting at least once.
Famous as the setting for the movie "Roman Holiday," it's a place of endless charm.
Here's a guide to spending a day exploring this historic and beautiful city!
① Trevi Fountain (Photo 1)
One of the most iconic spots in Rome, the Trevi Fountain.
It famously appeared in "Roman Holiday" when Princess Ann strolled through the city with Joe.
The must-do activity at the Trevi Fountain is, of course, coin tossing.
Think about your wishes and decide how many coins to throw:
- 1 coin: Ensures you'll return to Rome.
- 2 coins: Guarantees you'll stay with your loved one forever.
- 3 coins: Surprisingly, signifies separation from your partner or spouse.
The fountain underwent restoration last year, and since then, some entry restrictions have been implemented. Regulations may change, so it's recommended to check in advance before visiting!
② Castel Sant'Angelo (Photo 3)
Located near Vatican City, this unique circular castle is a must-see.
Its defining feature is the statue of Archangel Michael perched on top.
There's a bridge in front of the castle, and the view of the castle from the end of the bridge is simply stunning.
You can explore the castle for €14. The rooftop terrace is particularly recommended. While not very high, it offers a lovely view of Rome and the Vatican 😚.
The castle is also illuminated in the evening, so visit at your preferred time!
③ View of the Vatican from Rome (Photo 4)
Just a one-minute walk from Castel Sant'Angelo is the entrance to the Vatican.
The view of the Vatican from the road leading to St. Peter's Basilica is quite picturesque and highly recommended.
For Japanese visitors, the experience of walking into another country feels quite surreal!
④ Strolling through the streets to discover hidden gems (Photos 2, 5, 6–8)
Beyond the famous landmarks, Rome is filled with beautiful and unique sights everywhere you go.
Even narrow, ordinary streets can be so charming that you'll want to stop and take photos.
Instead of relying solely on public transportation to visit famous spots, take a leisurely walk and explore the city!
⑤ Souvenir shopping (Photos 9, 10)
Rome is dotted with small gift shops and markets everywhere.
From postcards and paintings to magnets and sweets, there's a wide variety of souvenirs to choose from.
Especially around tourist attractions, you'll find plenty of souvenir shops, so explore and pick up your favorite items!
Personally, I recommend the adorable chocolates~
