The former administrative center of Lanna

#VisitChiangMai 🏘Wat Chedi Luang Worawihan or Ratchakutakar or Wat Chotikaram, a royal temple, was built during the reign of King Saen Mueang Ma, King Rama VII of the Mangrai Dynasty. It is assumed that it was built around 1928 - 1945 and has been renovated in many eras. It used to be the place where the Emerald Buddha was enshrined during the reign of King Kaew. 🧱Wat Chedi Luang is located in the heart of Chiang Mai, which was originally considered the center of the administration of the Lanna Kingdom. Important and interesting things in the temple include: 🏠 Wihan Luang, built by Chao Khun Ubali Khun Paramacharn (Sirichantha Thera) and Chao Kaew Nawarat in 1928. The entrance has a beautiful Naga staircase, using its tails to intertwine and climb up to form the temple's archway. This pair of Naga is an ancient craftsmanship that has been around since the beginning. It is considered the most beautiful Naga. Inside is the principal Buddha image, Phra Attharot, cast in bronze, in the attitude of subduing relatives, and Nang Tilok Chutha. The mother of Phraya Lokraj ordered the casting in 1954. 🛕 The Chedi Luang was built during the reign of Phraya Saen Muang Ma to dedicate merit to Phraya Kue Na, his father. However, the construction was not completed before he passed away. Later, Queen Tilokchutha continued the construction until it was completed during the reign of Phraya Sam Fang Kaen.
