#summervacay Of all my travels in Italy, the place I've reminisced about the most isn't a famous landmark, but a charming little hilltop town called Cortona. A decade ago, I spent time here as an exchange student. Visiting again in winter after all these years, I found it just as tranquil and full of character as I remembered. This town has an incredibly rich history, dating back to the Etruscan civilization around the 8th century BC – even predating ancient Rome, the Middle Ages, and the Renaissance! The journey itself is part of the charm; the roads wind uphill, requiring a combination of train and bus to reach. Visiting in winter, with fewer crowds and some shops closed, actually allowed me to experience its authentic daily life more intimately.
