Aichi Trip! Nagoya "Toyotofuji Inari Shrine" "Sacred Tree Fujiryu"

It is said to have been founded in 1851, but the shrine's deity, Toyofuji Daimyojin, is said to have been enshrined in the early Nara period. The sacred tree Fujiryu (Fuji Dragon) on the left side of the main shrine is magnificent and very impressive. There is also a small shrine dedicated to the tree. Unusually for an Inari shrine, the main hall is guarded by lion dogs rather than foxes. It is a small hill called Asahiyama, and it is said that Nobunaga's forces gathered there during the Battle of Okehazama. It is worth a visit!
