Maotai Tiramisu & Stepping into Old-World China at Xuan Café

#summervacay Tucked away in Taman Sentosa, Xuan Café instantly caught our eye with its serene, oriental charm. From the moment we stepped inside, it felt like being transported into a Chinese period drama. Every corner had something to admire—wooden lattice doors, delicate calligraphy scrolls, tea sets placed thoughtfully in quiet corners, and even oversized Chinese chess pieces that made the whole space feel like a curated gallery. The aesthetic details weren’t just for show. They created a calm, almost poetic atmosphere that made the experience more than just about food. It’s the kind of place where you want to slow down, take your time, and just soak it all in. Even the menu looked like a relic from an ancient Chinese inn, with beautifully printed characters and an old-school layout that felt right at home with the rest of the decor. We tried their maotai tiramisu, which came in a bright yellow oriental teacup. The presentation alone was worth the visit—garnished with flowers and ribbon, chocolate chunks, and a sprinkle of coffee powder. You get a soft hit of maotai that’s surprisingly well-balanced with the creamy mascarpone. A little boozy, a little sweet, but overall very well put together. For drinks, we topped up RM5 to pair it with their roasted oolong milk tea, which was part of a selected drinks menu. It was smooth and lightly toasty, not too sweet, with a creamy finish that went perfectly with the tiramisu. Honestly, the drink felt like it belonged in a traditional tea house—elevated yet comforting. What I really loved was how much intention went into every detail here. Even the smallest props seemed like they were placed with care. You could easily spend a good hour just wandering the space, discovering different backdrops for photos or simply appreciating the blend of heritage and modern design. Xuan Café isn’t just about grabbing coffee and dessert. It’s about slowing down and enjoying the atmosphere—whether you’re sitting quietly with tea or taking a few OOTD shots with a vintage chessboard behind you. It’s elegant, thoughtful, and definitely worth a visit if you’re looking for a beautiful, calming spot in JB with more than just pretty cakes. #thingstodo #myitinerary #couplestrip #citydaytours #afternoonteatime #localfood
