Qingdao｜A Complete Guide to 8 Free Sunset & Glow Spots 🌅

Many of you must be planning a May Day trip to Qingdao for romantic seaside sunsets! I've compiled 8 tried-and-tested sunset/glow photography spots – hope this helps~ 1️⃣ Little Qingdao Island (p1-2) 📍 26 Qinyu Road, Shinan District 🚇 Exit D of People's Hall Station (Lines 3/4), then 1km walk 📝 This was my first sunset photography spot after settling in Qingdao – it holds a special "white moonlight" place in my heart, hence the top listing! 2️⃣ Signal Hill (p3-4) 📍 Signal Hill Park, Shinan District 🚇 Exit B2 of Signal Hill Station (Line 4) 📝 Urban skyline + sunset glow. Overlooks most of Qingdao's old town – a classic vantage point! Just 10+ mins climb, but expect holiday crowds. 3️⃣ Jinmao Bay (p5-6) 📍 Jinmao Bay Shopping Center, Shinan District 🚇 Exit B of Xizhen Station (Line 1), then 1km walk 📝 Unobstructed sea sunset views. Nearby mall has restaurants with sunset-view terraces. 4️⃣ Wheat Island (p7-8) 📍 Maidao, Zhonghan Subdistrict, Laoshan District 🚇 Exit E of Maidao Station (Line 2), then 1.8km walk 📝 Iconic spot – lying on grassy slopes watching sea sunsets is ultra-chill! Occasional live bands, but extremely crowded during holidays. 5️⃣ Jiaozhou Bay Bridge (p9-10) 📍 Cang'an Road, Licang District 🚇 Exit A of Cang'an Road Station (Line 1), walk seaward past overpass 📝 Perfect for capturing the bridge and sunset in one frame. 6️⃣ Sculpture Park (p11-12) 📍 66 East Donghai Road, Laoshan District 🚇 Exit C of Hai'an Road Station (Line 2), then 1.3km walk 📝 Less crowded but partially blocked by buildings. Features sculpture exhibitions. 7️⃣ Second Bathing Beach (p13-14) 📍 6 Shanhaiguan Road, Shinan District 🚇 Exit C of Zhongshan Park Station (Line 1), then 1km walk 📝 Near Badaguan, with photogenic dam silhouettes. Slightly obstructed sunset views. 8️⃣ Lover's Dam & Olympic Sailing Center (p15-16) 📍 1 Qingyuan Road, Shinan District 🚇 Exit C of Yan'erdao Road Station (Line 2), then 1.5km walk 📝 Sailboats, lighthouse sunsets, followed by light shows!
