Yi Peng - Chiang Mai

This year, the Yi Peng or Loi Krathong Festival in Chiang Mai will be held on November 7-9. Yi Peng or the Yi Month Festival is an ancient tradition of Lanna that has been practiced for a long time. Yi means two and Peng means full moon. Temples and houses will be beautifully decorated. There will be lighting of candles to worship the Triple Gem and releasing lanterns into the sky to worship the Phra Ket Kaew Chulamani in the Tavatimsa heaven. This year, Chiang Mai has organized it very beautifully. There will be a light and sound show and a contest for 15 Krathong processions.
