#springitinerary Life in Singapore really has so many unexpected little surprises! I almost missed this hidden gem — an art gallery tucked away at 45 Tras Street. The giant nautical cat installation is by artist Kenji Yanone. Inspired by cats during the Age of Exploration, these feline explorers traveled the seas with sailors, guarding ships, warding off disease, and healing the sailors’ spirits as companions. 🛳️🐈⬛ “Navigator” Design Elements: The piece draws from Singapore’s role as a transport and trade hub and the Singapore flag. On the cat’s shoulders are a moon and a star — symbols of guidance during night voyages — while the sun on the back of its head represents a hopeful bridge for travelers. 🌙⭐☀️ For just 7 SGD, you can even take home your very own Cat Captain! Too cute to resist! 😻 Also featured is the “Garden Melodies” series by Japanese painter Saito, full of healing colors and adorable animal figures.
