[Ebisu, Tokyo] Tokyo Photographic Art Museum, Luigi Ghiri

#AbsolutelyFreeTrip For me, Luigi Ghiri is not just one of Italy's leading contemporary photographers, but the man on the cover of my favorite Atsuko Suga collection. This is the first retrospective exhibition in Asia, with about 130 pieces, from his early works taken while he was working as a surveyor to his later photographs of Aldo Rossi and Morandi's studios, and even though it has just started, there were a lot of people there. The highlight is the photographs of Morandi's studio. I could look at them over and over again. When I see the way he captures the light, color, and space, I feel Ghiri's gaze, which is similar to Morandi's brushstrokes, and it really gets to me. I really like these photographs. At the beginning of the exhibition, there was a series of photographs taken from behind of people photographing landscapes and people viewing art works. It was very interesting to imagine myself looking at those photographs. And I was fascinated by the space of the Tokyo Metropolitan Museum of Photography, where people viewing Luigi's photographs could be seen, and I wanted to take pictures of the people rather than the works themselves. ・ I thought I was interested in him because I like Suga and Morandi, but after seeing this exhibition I'm sure he would have become one of my favorite photographers even without them.
