Miyagi Prefecture - Wild Garlic Station (unmanned station - you can call a taxi to the spectacular view)
#5月好去处2025
Nogari Station is a JR East Sengoku Line station located in Higashimatsushima City, Miyagi Prefecture. It is not far from Matsushima and is one of the important transportation nodes leading to Ishinomaki and Higashimatsushima earthquake disaster sites. The station was relocated and rebuilt in 2015. The current new station is about 11 meters higher than the old station to cope with future tsunami disasters. It is one of the few "elevated reconstruction" symbolic stations after the Great East Japan Earthquake.
The station building design is modern and simple, and some earthquake disaster sites are still preserved around it, including the old Nogari Station platform, damaged residential ruins and disaster prevention displays, which have profound educational and reflective significance. From here, you can go to the Earthquake Heritage Museum or the nearby seaside trail, which is also a representative area for post-disaster reconstruction and tourism.
When I arrived, there were no taxis scheduled outside, so I had to call a taxi myself. I waited for ten minutes for the taxi to come.
📍Address: Nogari Kitayu Viewpoint, Higashimatsushima City, Miyagi Prefecture, get off at Nogari Station on the JR Senseki Line
🕰️Business hours: JR station is unmanned, self-service entry and exit, and the train schedule is based on the timetable

One of the Three Views of Japan - Matsushima Four Views (The Magnificent Otakamori)
#5月好去处2025
The Four Great Views of Matsushima are the four best viewing spots along the coast of Matsushima Bay in Miyagi Prefecture, Japan. You can enjoy the beautiful scenery of Matsushima Bay, one of the three most beautiful views in Japan, from different angles. Among them, "Otakamori (spectacular)" is named for the magnificent and vast panoramic view of Matsushima. It is the viewing spot with the widest view among the four great views.
After getting off at the JR Sengoku Line Nogari Station, take a taxi to the "Otakamori Trailhead", which takes about 5 to 10 minutes. It takes about 20 to 30 minutes from the trailhead to the top of the mountain. There are trails and guide signs along the way.
I called a taxi that day. I didn't meet other tourists on the way up the mountain. When I came back, I also called a taxi. There are no buses in the area. It would be inconvenient if you don't drive yourself.
