If you're looking for a less-traveled destination in Kansai, Wakayama is highly recommended. It's charming and fulfilling without the need for rushed sightseeing. If you have enough time, you can extend your trip further south. 🏯 Must-see attractions: 1. Wakayama Castle🍁🌸 One of Japan's top 100 castles, built by Toyotomi Hideyoshi. The panoramic view from the castle tower is breathtaking. The spring cherry blossom season (late March to early April) is particularly stunning, with the entire city covered in pink cherry blossoms. The Momijidani Garden at the foot of the castle is also recommended. It's a small, beautiful Japanese garden that should be gorgeous during the autumn foliage season. I visited a little early, just as the leaves were starting to change color, but it was very peaceful. Opening hours: 09:00-17:30, admission is approx. JPY 410, with discounts available for Kansai Wide Area Pass holders. 2. Tamaden Train Line🚇 Before going, I wondered what was so special about a train line!
