This waterfall is about 260 kilometers away from Reykjavik and admission is free. This time I came here as part of a local one-day tour. It's about a five-minute walk from the tour bus stop. Here you feel peaceful and at ease. Appreciate the surging feeling of the waterfall, quietly watch the stones and water in the stream, and match the blue sky and white clouds with the birds accompanying the sky. If I could enjoy coffee and sit in a director's chair here, I believe I could sit here all day. Take your time to appreciate the power of nature. Seriously, it’s really beautiful here! A truly unique canyon that is easily accessible to the viewpoint. The initial climb is a bit steep but not difficult. Once you reach the top, the path becomes flat until you reach the distant viewing platform. When we visited in winter, the roads were icy, so we recommend wearing crampons. You should plan to stay here for about an hour, and it is absolutely worth it because the canyon views are breathtaking.

You have to leave Highway 1 to reach this remarkable Feather± Canyon, although it’s not far away. The walk through the canyon is perfectly signposted with fences and various viewpoints along the way. While it may not be suitable for people with limited physical abilities, it is not overly challenging either. Although the hike is not particularly long, it does involve some uphill sections. Nonetheless, it was undoubtedly worth it! The walk takes about 45 minutes (round trip), but it also depends on how long you spend at each attraction. #Halloween2023 Located in the southernmost part of Iceland, Feather Canyon📸was formed during the Ice Age 9,000 years ago and is known as the most beautiful canyon in the world👍. There is a viewing platform on the trail next to it (about 45 minutes walk). Looking out from the viewing platform, you can feel the depth of the canyon. The water flows gently through the winding cracks, which is very beautiful. Alternatively, you can wade through the valley floor and feel the towering steepness of the canyon walls. Iceland has different sides as well. There is one problem that Iceland has: mass tourism. This place for example had to be closed due to too many visitors last year (it was opened when we were there). The reason is that Justin Bieber filmed a music video there and many many people decided to visit this place as well. But a lot of people don’t care about nature and don’t walk on paths for example. There, we embarked on a thrilling amphibian boat tour booked through Arctic Adventures. 🛥️ Gliding across the icy blue waters surrounded by floating icebergs was truly breathtaking. The shimmering glacial landscape felt like something out of a fairytale – a once-in-a-lifetime experience we’ll never forget. 🌊✨ After soaking in the beauty of the lagoon, we made our way to the coastal town of Höfn for a delicious late lunch at Pakkhús Restaurant. 🦞 The seafood here is as fresh as it gets – the lobster was incredibly tender and flavorful, and the ocean views made the meal even more memorable. A quick stop at Netto, a local grocery store in Höfn, allowed us to pick up some ready-made meals for a relaxed dinner back at our hostel. 🛒 A simple, cozy way to end the day without fuss. But the highlight wasn’t over yet – we couldn’t miss a visit to the stunning Diamond Beach. 🏖️ The contrast between the jet-black sand and sparkling icebergs scattered along the shore was absolutely mesmerizing. We kicked off another amazing day in Iceland with a hearty breakfast at Byrja — cozy, comforting, and just what we needed to fuel up! ☕🍳 Then it was pastry time! We stopped at Almari Bakeri and picked up some fresh, buttery pastries that made our morning even sweeter. 🥐❤️ Our first adventure of the day was the Lava Centre, where we learned all about Iceland’s powerful volcanic history. It was so cool (and kinda mind-blowing) to see how this incredible land was shaped! 🌋📚 Next, we visited two of Iceland’s most iconic waterfalls — Seljalandsfoss and Skógafoss. Seljalandsfoss was magical because we could walk behind the waterfall and feel the mist on our faces! 🌈💦 Then at Skógafoss, we were awed by the sheer power and beauty of the water thundering down — absolutely breathtaking. 🏞️ The magic continued at Víkurfjara Black Beach — the black sand and roaring waves made it feel like we stepped onto another planet! I came to Fjaðrálgljúfur Gorge in Iceland. It is a valley along National Route 1, and you can get there by rental car, but the road becomes unpaved halfway through. There is no entrance fee, but parking costs about 1,000 yen per car. The view from the observation deck is nice, but be careful as the wind is very strong. You need to walk about 30 minutes from the parking lot to the observation deck. #familytrips2024 Hotel Laki is a nice place to stay if you are travelling at southern part of Iceland. However the budget is on the higher side and hence we decided to stay at Efri Vik Bungalows on Laki hotel compound. These bungalows were built before laki and they were kinda antique. They were still lovely and the stay comes with free breakfast in laki hotel. However the down side is that wifi is weak here.
