Transportation to Cat Island is more complicated, so remember to plan ahead. It is recommended that you search for bus and ferry schedules online in advance⏳ 🚗 Transportation (from Hakata) 1. #Japan and Korea urban attractions One of the happiest things about this trip to Fukuoka was probably going to Aijima 🏝️ Aijima is one of the cat islands in Fukuoka, are the closest to the city center and the most accessible, a car and then a boat ride is ard an hour or so. I have departed from Hakata and take the JR to Fukuoka Daimae Station.  Photo Island is not big, not many people, but having a cat is enough 😸 Not all cats are relatives, having a cat strip of course is another matter, remember to keep tidy when feeding cats. The island is mainly residential, and you can see a couple of bed and breakfasts. Halfway through, you will also see a small shop where you can buy drinks and snacks. It feels so laid back here, just like you usually do when you go to an off-island, with a very relaxing feeling.

Like most, if not all of the tourists who visited Ainoshima Island, we came here for the cats. It was about an hour’s journey from Hakata Station to the island - took the JR Kagoshima Line train to Fukkodaimae Station, then took bus no.2 which stops in front of the station at Family Mart towards Ainoshima Ferry Terminal (aka Shingu Port). You’ll need to pay the exact bus fare of 100 Yen to the bus driver. The ferry terminal is the last stop on the bus route, hence it’s written clearly on the bus so you won’t miss it. Ferry times are not frequent - see photo for timetable. Bus timetable has been scheduled to meet ferry times, you can check for the timetable on Google Maps if you’re using that to plan your route. One-way ferry tickets can be bought via a ticket machine at Shingu Port station and the waiting room area in Ainoshima. Do remember to keep your tickets as they will be collected at the ferry entrance in Ainoshima upon arrival and before embarkation. #GiveThanks

For those who love traveling in Japan, we think that Fukuoka is one of the cities that you shouldn't miss. It's a southern sea city in the Kyushu region. And if you're a cat lover, we have a place we'd like to recommend. This is the cat island, Ainoshima Island, in Shingu Fukuoka~ We mainly traveled by train. Just buy a JR pass and you can ride everything except the subway. We started our journey from JR Hakata -> Kashii Station, then changed to a local train (you can use it if you have a Suica card). Nishitetsu Kashii -> Nishitetsu Shingu and walked to Shingu Port for about 1 km. Or you can take a bus. There are boats every round. Each round takes 30 minutes. *There is a fee to cross. There is a place to sit and wait. There are cats walking around for you to play with. It takes about 10 minutes on the boat to reach the island. When we went on the island, it was starting to get quiet, but there were a lot of cats. We heard that the island itself is currently closed because there are only elderly people and cats. All the cats on the island can be adopted (if I'm not mistaken, try searching for more information). All the cats are very tame. The atmosphere is very peaceful. You can walk around. There is also a shrine, but it is quite a long walk. We were on the island for about 1 hour and then took a boat back. If the island is still open for visits, I would recommend you to go.
