Jama Masjid (India) Located in the northeast corner of Old Delhi, Jama Masjid is the largest mosque in India (Jama means "big") and was once the largest mosque in the world. Humayun’s Tomb - an impressive tomb that was built in 1557 A.D. entrance cost 600₹. 2. Safdarjung's Tomb - this sandstone tomb was built in 1754 in the late Mughal Empire style. Entrance cost 300₹. 3. Lodhi garden - City park situated in New Delhi. Spread over 90 acres (360,000 m2) including tombs and great #architecture. Free entrance. 4. Delhi gate - One of the #iconic symbols of the city. Free entrance. 5. Jama Masjid - one of the largest #mosque in India. Entrance cost 600₹ 6. Chandni Chowk, a major street in Old Delhi. Known as local market that sell variety of products like sarees, authentic Indian food, delicacies and sweets. It was featured in a Bollywood movie called Kabhi Kushi Kabhi Gham. To visit this area, we pay a guide so he’ll able to bring us around with his bike, I personally think it’s much more convenient that way as we were unsure of the area ourselves and with a guide, we also able to know a bit of background of some places.

Jama Masjid is located at central street Old Delhi. It is one of the most famous and spectacular mosques in India and in the world. It is made of red stone and white marble that can accommodate up to 25,000 people. Getting There - Jama Masjid's neaeesf metro station is Chawri Bazar on the Yellow Line. You can also get their by taxi or uber. Close by attraction is the Red Fort so you can do the two attractions in one day. Food & Restaurants - There are many restaurants outside Jama Masjid so it is very conveniet to grab some bite after or before your visit. Shopping: Nearby shopping area is Chandni Chowk. Entrance Fee: Free. ‼️Tips 1. Jama Masjid is located in a very crowded area so traffic will be really bad , we had to really push our way forward amongst all the cars and tricycles. It was really tight. So better to take the subway. 2. Visit in the morning to avoid long qeues and large crowd. 3. Carry a bag that can fit your shoes so you can just carry your shoes along in the mosque. There are shoe counters outside but because there are too many people then it might take you a while to?find your shoes. 4. No shorts or short skirts. I was wearing a skirt which long enough (below the knee) but they still gave us some cloths to cover ourselves. It was a great and awesome experience seeing the main residence of thr Mughal Emperors. It is really a recommended place to visit when you are in Delhi and it cannot be missed. The architrcture of the Red Ford is just beyond imagination. It is a massive place and it might take you 3-4 hours to walk around and see everything. Ticket prices for Indians and foreigners are different. As foreigners we paid 500 Indian Rupees. They also have different prices during weekends. ‼️Tips‼️ 1. If you can buy the tickets a day in advance then it will really help you maximize your time on the day of your actual visit. 2. Only Muslims can go inside the actual mosque, but the huge courtyard and minarets are open to everyone. Since I’m not Muslim, I just explored outside. For women, you have to cover up in a long dress with sleeves, so I rented this flowy robe thing for ₹50—kinda funny but comfy! The entry fee was ₹300 (not including the robe). The mosque is stunning—huge, with amazing marble work—many people were just sitting on the floor in front of the mosque and having lunch there. Overall it is a nice stop in New Delhi, better come in early morning or evening before it gets closed to avoid the heat.
