Heiyou Mountain is located at No. 25, Youquan Road, Karamay District, Karamay City, Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region, about 2 kilometers away from Karamay City. Heiyou Mountain is the Triassic oil outcrop of Karamay Oilfield. It is a group of asphalt mounds formed by the overflow of crude oil all year round. The largest one is 13 meters high and covers an area of 0.2 square kilometers. The oil quality of Heiyou Mountain is precious low pour point oil. According to geologists' prediction, Heiyou Mountain began to overflow oil as early as 200 million years ago. Karamay means black oil in Uygur, so this natural oil asphalt mound is named Heiyou Mountain. This black asphalt mountain and the oil buried underground have been sleeping here for hundreds of millions of years. Due to crustal movement, the underground oil is affected by stratum pressure and continuously seeps to the surface along the stone cracks.
