Huangguoshu Waterfall, a famous large waterfall in China and even in Asia, is located in Anshun City, Guizhou Province. It attracts countless tourists every year to appreciate its breathtaking charm. 1. Preliminary preparation
Best time to visit: June to October is the golden period to visit Huangguoshu Waterfall. During this period, there is abundant rainfall, the waterfall has a large flow rate, and the momentum is the most majestic, allowing you to fully experience the shock of "a waterfall dropping three thousand feet straight down".
✨Ticket information: Huangguoshu Scenic Area adopts a one-ticket system, covering core attractions such as Huangguoshu Waterfall, Tianxing Bridge, and Doupotang.
Peak season: Ticket price is 160 yuan per person
Off-season: Ticket price is 150 yuan/person

Traffic Planning:
External transportation: Tourists from all over the country can first arrive in Guiyang or Anshun. If you depart from Guiyang, you can take a bus directly to Huangguoshu Scenic Area at Jinyang Bus Station. The departure time is roughly from 8 am to 12:45 pm, the fare is 50 yuan per person, and the journey takes about 2.5 hours. Nowadays, the scenic spot has opened a direct bus and has multiple boarding points, making it more convenient. You can also choose to take a bus, train or high-speed rail to Anshun, and then transfer to Huangguoshu Waterfall. There are direct buses from Anshun East Bus Station or Anshun West Bus Station. From Anshun West Bus Station, you need to take a bus from Anshun to Guanling and get off at Huangguoshu Parking Lot. The fare is 18 yuan per person and the journey takes about 1 hour.
Internal transportation: The scenic spots in the scenic area are far apart. The scenic area shuttle bus is a necessary means of transportation to connect the various scenic spots. Be sure to buy tickets. The sightseeing buses in the scenic area can go directly to various scenic spots, but you can only take each attraction once, so you need to plan your tour route reasonably.
2️⃣、Scenic spot tour
🎈Huangguoshu Waterfall Scenic Area: This is the core attraction of the entire Huangguoshu Waterfall Scenic Area. Not only is there the world-famous Huangguoshu Waterfall, but it is also the filming location for the Water Curtain Cave in Mount Huaguo in the 1986 version of "Journey to the West". Visitors can enjoy a 360° panoramic view of the waterfall along the walking path, and experience its magnificence from six directions: front, back, left, right, up and down. Especially in the windows of the Water Curtain Cave, when the weather is clear, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., you will most likely be able to see a colorful double rainbow, and the rainbow will change as you move. When visiting the Water Curtain Cave Scenic Area, it is recommended to purchase a raincoat in advance (the price in the scenic area is about 15 yuan/piece) and properly protect electronic devices to prevent them from getting wet by water vapor. The hiking distance in the scenic area is long and there are many steps. If you want to have a relaxing tour or bring the elderly and children with you, you can choose to take the Huangguoshu escalator (30 yuan for one way, 50 yuan for round trip).
🎈Doupotang Waterfall: Located 1 km upstream of Huangguoshu Waterfall, it is the widest waterfall in the Huangguoshu Waterfall group. It is famous for being the setting for the scene where the four masters and apprentices led their horses across the river in the theme song of the 1986 version of "Journey to the West". During normal water season, the water flows slowly and clearly, while during flood season, you can hear the waterfall making a deep and powerful roar, so it is also called the "Roaring Waterfall". The entire scenic area is not large and the tour time is about half an hour to an hour.
🎈Tianxing Bridge Scenic Area: It is the largest and longest-lasting of the three scenic areas. The entire tour takes about 4 hours. The scenic area includes the Tianxing Bonsai Area, Tianxing Cave Scenic Area, and Water Stone Forest Area. The first half is the filming location of Gao Laozhuang in the 1986 version of "Journey to the West", but the real highlight of the scenic area is in the second half. After walking through Tianxing Lake and arriving at the water stone forest area, you can enjoy the Yinlianzhuitan Waterfall. After the tour, you can choose to take the cable car (10 yuan/person), transfer to the shuttle bus at the cable car exit to the Tianxing Bridge Gate, and then transfer to other attractions in the scenic area; you can also choose to walk to the Tianxing Bridge Gate and then transfer.
3️⃣、Travel route planning
During the peak season, there are many tourists in the scenic area, and reasonable route planning can effectively reduce waiting time. The Tianxing Bridge Scenic Area is most crowded from around 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., the Doupotang is most crowded from around 9 a.m. to 11 a.m., and the number of tourists at the Big Waterfall in the afternoon is far greater than that in the morning.
The recommended tour route is: Doupotang - Big Waterfall - Tianxing Bridge.
In the morning, we will go to Doupotang, which can be easily visited in about half an hour, and then we will go to the big waterfall.
There are relatively fewer tourists in the morning, so you can enjoy the highlights of the scenic area and take photos.
In the afternoon, you can visit the Tianxing Bridge, which takes a long time. There are relatively fewer tourists at this time, so you can take beautiful photos at any time without being disturbed. You can also leisurely enjoy the unique scenery of the Yinlianzhuitan Waterfall.
If you have enough time, it would be more pleasant to choose a two-day tour. We visited Tianxing Bridge and Doupotang on the first day, and headed to the Big Falls early on the second morning when there were relatively fewer tourists and we could better immerse ourselves in the beauty of the falls.

🎈Huangguoshu Hotel (formerly Jingu Waterfall Villa Hotel): The closest hotel to Huangguoshu Waterfall. You can enjoy the waterfall when you stay in the hotel. Waking up in the morning to the sound of the waterfall is a unique experience. The hotel has a variety of room types and is booked two to three days in advance during peak season. There is a restaurant with good dining conditions.
🎈Bolian Hot Spring Hotel: Located near the waterfall, it is very convenient to get to the scenic area. You can appreciate the magnificent momentum of the waterfall in just one kilometer. The hotel has only more than 60 rooms, each equipped with an independent hot spring bath. The rooms are decorated with light and shadow, accompanied by flowers and bamboo, creating a living atmosphere of harmonious coexistence between man and nature. Guests can enjoy the mountain and lake scenery by opening the curtains, and feel isolated from the world by closing the door.
🎈Huangguoshu RV Campground: Here you can enjoy a comfortable life lying on the bed, watching the waterfall and listening to the birds singing. The space inside the RV can be expanded by pressing a button, and the standard RV can reach an area of 20 square meters when extended.
