🟡️My last trip to Chengdu was all about relaxation, and I finally got to meet friends I hadn't seen in years. Traveling solo meant I didn’t need to overthink accommodations, so I skipped traditional star-rated hotels and opted for the design-forward Buda Hotel—my first time staying there. 🟡️I heard the hotel was designed by ARCHETYPE Design Group and even won the American Architecture Master Prize in the hospitality category. True to its reputation, the overall style is modern and minimalist, with warm coffee tones indoors, creating a cozy yet upscale vibe. 🟡️After a few days, I found it quite cost-effective. Located at the border of Chengdu’s High-Tech Zone and Tianfu New Area, it’s right next to Metro Lines 1 and 5, making transportation a breeze. CPI is just a 30-minute drive away—pretty close, especially compared to Beijing, where an hour’s commute is the norm. Super convenient!

I stayed here specifically for the hotel designed by Yuan Tai, and upon entering the room, I was struck by a familiar dreamlike nostalgia, as if transported back to the millennium era, perfectly blending with the white-brick-and-blue-glass architecture of Huayang Street outside the window. 🏠「Budai Hotel」 📍Location: No. 162, South Section of Yizhou Avenue, near Tianfu Fifth Street/Yintai City 🥟Dining: Stunning! The room continues the retro design theme, featuring custom HAY chairs, wooden blinds, and stone accents that give it a unique character. The bedding is exceptionally comfortable, ensuring a good night's sleep. Among Chengdu's boutique hotels, Budai Hotel stands out as truly special. You'll notice the entire hotel follows a clear, cohesive design philosophy with its own distinct attitude—far from the superficial mashup of trendy elements seen elsewhere.

Here, cinematic spatial design seamlessly blends with retro color aesthetics, taking atmospheric charm to its peak. Stepping through the door, you'll be captivated by the serene, restrained ambiance—where undercurrents in the air balance an unseen energy, drawing you into its spell. Inside, the mid-century minimalist style and flawless symmetry evoke memories of The Grand Budapest Hotel. Every corner exudes a quiet, solemn beauty, as if you're staying in a museum. Chengdu Hotel | Not a Big Hotel | First impression: Art You can feel the retro atmosphere as soon as you enter, I love it! The first floor is the entrance, the second floor is the front desk, restaurant, and meeting room (suitable for working or team discussions, very quiet when there are few people), and the third floor is the rooms, gym, and laundry room. The hotel is called "Not a Big Hotel" but there are more than 70 rooms on one floor. You can't tell from the entrance! Breakfast is a set menu with Chinese and Western options. Great value for money, very comfortable, will come again.
