The mass graves in the southern suburbs of Phnom Penh display a large number of tortures and remains of victims during the Khmer Rouge period. Most of the victims here are prisoners from S-21 prison, including men, women, young and old, and babies. More than 8,000 remains have been excavated so far. If you want to understand this sad history of Cambodia, you can visit and pay tribute. The mass graves are like a large park, sparsely populated and densely shaded by trees. Through the straight walkway, a tall memorial pagoda comes into view, which displays thousands of skulls of the victims. These skulls are arranged in order according to the age and gender of the deceased. The scene is shocking and creepy in the dim light. You can buy a bouquet of flowers at the entrance of the pagoda and dedicate it to the dead souls here. Walk out of the pagoda, there is a big tree not far away, under which countless people were hammered to death. In order to cover up the screams of the victims before they died, loudspeakers were hung on the trees to play music. There are also various displays of corpse pits and debris in the mass graves, and the tragic history of the Khmer Rouge is told in the form of text and photos.
