The Instant Noodles Invention Memorial Hall was established to commemorate the "Father of Instant Noodles" Momofuku Ando. Try making Chicken Ramen for the first time at the Chicken Ramen Factory!

It was a long 1 hour and 40 minutes, so I hydrated myself before entering the venue. Of course I used the restroom and was all set. After the previous round of pumping, it was time to enter... First, I washed my hands, wrapped a chick-shaped bandana around my head (I haven't worn a bandana since elementary school) and put on an apron with a Chicken Ramen design. I watched how to make Chicken Ramen on the monitor first, received an explanation, and then proceeded to the cooking counter. On the cooking counter was a silver washbasin-like bowl and flour. Good. Put the flour in the bowl, add the liquid and mix at high speed... mix, mix, mix. It's no good if it forms lumps, so it's checked and OK. While the dough is resting in a plastic sheet bag, I'm asked to draw an illustration on the original Chicken Ramen packaging... what should I draw? Looking around, everyone else is drawing skillfully and smoothly, so I try to draw while feeling very nervous. I'm told that we're moving on to the next step while we're still in the middle of drawing, so I head to the kitchen. It seems the dough has finished resting, so the next step is to roll out the gathered wheat flour with a rolling pin, and then the dough is rolled out even thinner with a machine. To continue the work before the flour dries, the handle is turned at high speed and the noodles that come out are rolled out again. This process is repeated 10 times, and long, thin noodle dough about 1 mm thick is completed. Finally, the dough is placed in the machine once more, and the machine to cut it into thin strips is attached, and the team is divided into one person to turn the machine and one to cut it, and they cut it into lengths of about 15 cm with scissors. Once all the dough has been cut, the liquid seasonings are added to the pad and mixed evenly, then exactly 100 grams are placed into a round mesh container. After that, we enter the glass-enclosed kitchen where the professional Chicken Ramen makers fry the noodles in oil, and they take turns frying the shaped Chicken Ramen. I couldn't get a reservation to make Chicken Ramen during the summer vacation, so I was really looking forward to my first Cup Noodle Museum. I had never been to Hankyu Ikeda Station before, and it took 18 minutes by express train from Hankyu Umeda Station to Ikeda Station. When you leave the ticket gate, there is a detailed illustrated map, and the station guide kindly showed you how to get to the Cup Noodle Museum with hand-drawn illustrations. After leaving the station, you pass by Daiei, pass Holly's Cafe, turn the corner, and you will see a sign with a chick on it. This sign is also at the station, and as you get closer, there are signs everywhere, 300 meters... 150 meters... so you can get there without getting lost. After walking for a while, a large building with tiled walls comes into view. In the middle of a large lawn is a bronze statue of Momofuku Ando, placed on top of a large cup of noodles. Finally, I arrive at the entrance to the ``Cup Noodles Museum''...a very large, stylish glass building. Now, it's time to do my best to make Chicken Ramen.

What to do on a rainy day? Making your own cup noodles in Osaka

During this Golden Week, I spent an extended trip in Osaka. Unfortunately, it rained midway, so I couldn’t visit USJ. Instead of just hanging out at shopping centers and pachinko parlors, which felt repetitive, I decided to look for nearby hot springs. That’s when I discovered the Cup Noodles Museum. Operated by Nissin, I initially thought the Cup Noodles Museum was only in Yokohama, but there’s one in Osaka too! Plus, it’s less crowded compared to Yokohama, making it highly recommended! Admission to the Cup Noodles Museum is free. While there isn’t much to see, the main reason to visit is because you can make your own custom cup noodles and chicken ramen! Both activities require reservations, but on rainy days or weekdays, you can often participate without one. For the cup noodles experience, reservations aren’t necessary, and you can check the waiting status on their website, which is helpful if you’re planning to visit on weekends. The chicken ramen (bagged noodles) experience involves frying and other hands-on activities, so if you go without a reservation, you might face a 1-2 hour wait. In this case, it’s recommended to check the chicken ramen experience schedule first, make a reservation, and then enjoy the cup noodles experience and museum tour. This way, an hour will pass quickly, and you can plan accordingly. I had about 2 hours to spare, so I only made cup noodles. You can make up to 3 cups per person, and each costs 500 yen. For chicken ramen, it’s limited to one per person, with a participation fee of 1,000 yen. For the cup noodles experience, here’s how it works: 1. Insert 500 yen into a dedicated vending machine to receive your cup. 2. Decorate the cup with the date and your own drawings. 3. Once the design is complete, proceed to fill the cup: - Add the noodles. - Choose one of four soup flavors. - Select four toppings from 12 options. 4. Package the cup to complete the process. You’ll receive a transparent plastic bag to store your cup noodles. Inflate the bag like a balloon to protect the cup from damage while carrying it. Although the taste is familiar, the process of making it is surprisingly fun. I regret only making one due to luggage constraints, but it’s a great activity for both kids and adults. + If you exit from the west side of Ikeda Station, you’ll find the Ikeda Castle ruins and garden (now a park). It’s a quiet and well-maintained spot, perfect for a leisurely stroll. + After visiting the Cup Noodles Museum, you might crave ramen. Conveniently, there’s an Ippudo branch right in front of the station. It’s less crowded compared to other locations and has a spacious interior. Highly recommended! Easily accessible from Osaka-Umeda station, around 20-odd minutes via the Hankyu Takarazuka line (at an affordable 280 yen!) the Museum itself is completely free of charge! The main attraction is the Cup Noodle Factory where you can customise your very own cup noodles (design your own cup and choose your own ingredients!) for just 500 yen. The Museum opens at 930am and can get crowded towards the weekend, so try and get there early! Except on Tuesday, because it’s closed then. Have oodles of fun!

🍜You can make your own original cup noodles. On the second floor, you can make your own Chicken Ramen in the Chicken Ramen Factory area. (Knead the dough, make noodles in a noodle machine, and cook in oil.) The exhibits that explain the history of Cup Noodles were quite interesting. I think both adults and children will be impressed by the efforts made to reach many people and how it is currently used outside the home. There is a parking lot that can accommodate 23 cars. It is a paid parking lot. There is also a paid parking lot nearby.

#fallishere Went to the Osaka "Cup Noodle" factory for a bit of fun. I bought 2 x cups to try two different flavours. We had fun creating our very own cup of noodles, from designing our cup (drawing and coloring) to picking out the broth base, protein, and toppings. Then the cup went through the machine for sealing the top and plastic wrapping the cup. There are 5,460 different flavors. Amazing!!! The staff were all super friendly and nice, and it’s such an amazing experience customising my cup noodles and drawing on the cup. There is also the exhibition that show the history of cup noodles which are interesting.
