Descending the steps from the courtyard of Toganji Temple, you'll find a small bamboo grove on the right leading to the outdoor Nagoya Great Buddha! This magnificent statue, built in 1987, stands 10 meters tall and is made of bronze painted in a striking emerald green. The Buddha's golden-colored urna (the mark between the eyebrows) shines brilliantly under sunlight, adding to its grandeur. Including its base, the total height reaches 15 meters. Nearby, there's also a bronze statue depicting Buddha's first sermon at Deer Park, where he enlightened the five monks. The monks' facial expressions are incredibly lifelike, showcasing the exceptional craftsmanship of the artists who created these sculptures. The base of the statue is inscribed with the Three Marks of Existence: "All conditioned phenomena are impermanent; all phenomena are non-self; Nirvana is peace." Despite its beauty and solemnity, this site remains relatively quiet and uncrowded. Standing before the massive green Buddha evokes a profound sense of tranquility and awe, leaving visitors deeply moved. This underrated gem is highly recommended for those seeking unique attractions. "Toganji Temple" not only boasts a rich history but is also conveniently located in the city center. To visit, take the (yellow) Higashiyama Line and get off at Motoyama Station. From there, it's just a 5-minute uphill walk.

Peach Rock Temple, a historic Soto Zen Buddhist temple, was completed in 1554. Despite being located in the bustling city of Nagoya, it offers a serene and tranquil atmosphere. To reach the temple, visitors must first walk along a path flanked by rows of trees, where the gentle breeze and the sounds of chirping birds and insects create the illusion of being in a forest. Passing through a red-roofed square archway, you'll find a stone purification basin with an inscription on either side that reads, "Draw pure water; cleanse the body of impurities." At the top of the couplet, there are Sanskrit seed syllables from esoteric Buddhism, adding a meaningful touch. The courtyard also features a solemn statue of the Compassionate Kannon. Unlike most temples, the main hall's plaque does not bear the usual inscription of "Great Hero Hall" but instead displays the words "Truth, Goodness, Beauty." Inside the main hall, visitors can pay homage to the principal deity, the Holy Kannon Bodhisattva. The hall also houses Japan's largest wooden fish, crafted from camphor wood over 100 years old. It is said that touching this wooden fish can help eliminate karmic obstacles. Another unique highlight is the painted ceiling of the main hall. Most people who travel to Nagoya will choose to take a train from Central Japan International Airport directly to Nagoya Station; however, I think this is a bit of a waste of time. The route I chose was to take the train from the airport to Kanayama Station, and then transfer to the subway (purple) Meijo Line to get off at Sakae Shopping District. Because it takes less time to go to major attractions from Sakae Station than from Nagoya Station! In addition, there is an underground food street at Sakae subway station, and there are many department stores, pharmacies, Oasis 21, Nagoya TV Tower, etc. in the Sakae Shopping District on the road, which are within walking distance; it is very convenient for both shopping and sightseeing. This time, I not only went to Nagoya Castle, Tokugawa Garden, Yanghuizhuang, Osu Kannon, and Bunka Futabakan in the city, but also went to Korankei in the suburbs of Toyota City. This shop is incredibly popular, offering a wide variety of items that even locals love to visit and purchase. You can find Nagoya specialties, snacks, and so much more, making it a fun place to explore. You'll lose track of time browsing through all the interesting products! 👍👍

If you’re worried about how expensive Japan can be, fear not there are places where your money goes further - Nagoya is one of them! Even though it’s one of japans biggest cities it is often overlooked. However I’d highly recommend it as a cheaper alternate to Tokyo! It has the same vibes, great shopping and the food and culture you’d expect from the capital. ⭐️ Flights / airport - The nearest airport is Nagoya Chubu Centrair and it’s popular with low cost airlines. If you’re willing to travel with just carry on there are many options for you. However the airport is far from the city, the train is the cheapest option if you buy in person ( they only accept cash) ⭐️ Hotels - I’ve stayed here twice and both times I chose local chains for their lower price. The Vessel inn in Nishiki is one of the best value hotels I’ve ever stayed in. Low price, simple but comfortable room and an amazing breakfast! ⭐️ Food - This is where Nagoya really stands out, I found food options here were more accessible. Japanese chains like coco ichiban, dotour coffee, Komeda Coffee and Mos burger over big meals for good prices. And the street food areas around Osu & Sakae have every type of food imaginable starting from around $1. ⭐️ Shopping - the shopping here is amazing, along with all your big brands there are so many markets and pedestrian streets with the lowest average prices I’ve seen so far in Japan. ⭐️ Attractions - I did most of the main tourist spots and was surprised by how reasonable the prices were on average, especially with some offering deals such as reduced entry or combo deals for multiple sites. ⭐️ transport - Metro all the way! The subway here is really enforcing, really easy to use and cheap. I took the metro everywhere and was impressed by how well it connects to the best tourist areas. Overall an amazing city, and some of my most affordable trips to Japan! #Dragon Boat Festival good places During the Dragon Boat Festival holiday, we set off for Hokuriku, Japan, and stayed in Nagoya for three days and two nights. Recommended accommodations near the station: Meitetsu Inn Nagoya Station Shinkansen Exit Meitetsu Inn Nagoyaeki Shinkansenguchi ✓Room type: Medium double room (16 square meters) ✓Price: NT$1,743/night (breakfast included) ✓ Location: Near the Shinkansen Taiko-dori Exit (Gintoki) of Nagoya Station. Walk to the right after exiting the station, passing the JR bus station and the construction site, and cross the road to arrive. It takes about 15 minutes. advantage: ✓There is Lawson downstairs, Torikizoku across the street, Matsuya around the corner, BicCamera in 3 minutes, and the famous store Shishimaru in 5 minutes. ✓The hotel opened in 2016 and is well maintained. The windows are clean and bright, and the soundproofing is good. The advantage is that it is high enough. I live on the 19th floor and the view is good. ✓The breakfast is served in cooperation with the restaurant downstairs. Nagoya - Gero Onsen - Takayama - Shirakawa-go - Tateyama Kurobe Day 1: It takes about 40 minutes to travel from Nagoya Airport to the city center, costing around ¥1000. Most restaurants close at 10 PM, while izakayas usually stay open until around midnight. On weekdays, closing times might be even later. Day 2: Purchased the Hida 3-Day Pass from JR, which includes round-trip bus tickets to Shirakawa-go (~¥12000). Visited Gero Onsen. The town was larger than expected, with shops, shrines, and everything you need. Explored Gero Gassho Village, which is relatively small with limited photo spots, but the mountain slide was very fun. Note that most restaurants are closed on Mondays, so plan accordingly. Day 3: Visited Takayama and Shirakawa-go. The bus pass needs to be exchanged in person, and staff will explain the bus schedules in detail. There were quite a lot of visitors, but about 10-20% of the shops were closed. Around 3-4 hours is sufficient to explore. Returned to Takayama and enjoyed Hida beef sukiyaki. Day 4: Spent the day exploring Takayama City, which has a nostalgic atmosphere. Strolled through the old streets and then returned to Nagoya. Day 5: Had Hida beef barbecue, visited Nagoya Castle, Osu Kannon, and Osu Shopping Street. Day 6: Joined a 2-day, 1-night local tour to Kamikochi and Tateyama Kurobe. Kamikochi is stunning with its clear mountains, majestic snowy peaks, and picturesque scenery that is truly refreshing. Day 7: Explored Tateyama Kurobe using six different modes of transportation, which took about 8 hours including sightseeing. Unfortunately, the weather was bad with strong winds and heavy rain, and the temperature dropped sharply, making it hard to enjoy photo-taking or the experience. Day 8: Visited Chubu Electric Power Museum, explored the underground shopping streets, and then headed back home.

#NAGOYA #cafegentiane #charcoal-roasted eel fuji Eat at two popular restaurants at once at Nagoya Station! First we went to "Chicken Pudding Cake Cafe" for breakfast. The name of the restaurant is cafe gentiane. We arrived at 08:30 that day and were seated directly without queuing, but later on, a queue started forming outside. The chicken pudding cake is really delicious and the shape is cute and healing. For lunch, we had Charcoal Grilled Eel Fuji. The main restaurant won the 2019 Bib Gourmand award, and this is a new branch that opened in recent years. Worried about queuing and not being able to eat, I made reservations and ordered meals before going abroad. The fixed set meals have a lot of portions!

For several years, there has been a line even on weekdays It's a popular Kissaten among Japanese people, especially those in their 20s and 30s🍽️ But judging from the fact that there were also elderly couples and grandpas who came alone, the age range seemed to be diverse!
