Vintage Nordic Calm in Tokyo – My Visit to Fuglen Tokyo (Tomigaya, Shibuya)
#tokyospots
Tucked in a quiet corner just steps from Yoyogi Park, Fuglen Tokyo (フグレン 東京富ヶ谷) channels Scandinavian elegance through mid‑century Norwegian design and thoughtful coffee craft. I visited mid-morning on a weekday and stayed about an hour enjoying their retro space and expertly brewed coffee.
☕ Atmosphere & Décor
The small cafe‑bar sits in a crisp white building marked by a round red‑bird logo. Inside, rich teak woods, hand‑made wallpaper, and vintage furniture evoke a serene Scandinavian living room from the 1950s–60s. Most of the seating—including built‑in benches outside—is for sale, as Fuglen doubles as a design boutique showcasing Nordic icons.
🍵 What I Tried
Ordered a light‑roast hand‑brewed coffee, elegantly balanced with gentle acidity and clean finish—roasted by Fuglen’s own roastery in Tokyo. Also tried the crispy Norwegian waffle with brown cheese, a playful local specialty that lines up with their Norwegian roots.
