Excellent accessibility & simply a "comfortable space to relax in" Located in the center of Sapporo, Richmond Hotel Sapporo Odori is within walking distance of Odori Park, the Clock Tower, and the TV Tower, and is also just a 5-minute walk from Susukino, making it easily accessible. Furthermore, it is located in the Sapporo Tanukikoji Shopping Street, which is lined with about 200 stores, making it ideal for both sightseeing and business. This time, I stayed in a room called the "Japanese Modern Premier Twin ~Popke~"🛏️ This room, which comes from the Ainu word "Popke," meaning "warm," incorporates Hokkaido's traditional culture throughout, and the calm atmosphere was impressive. What particularly impressed me was that the floor of the room was covered with tatami mats. After dinner, we walked in the snow, took pictures around Susukino. Before going to accommodation, we secretly stopped by Super 2nd Street to buy more windbreakers because the ones we brought were really too cold for the -5 degree weather 😅 14/2/68 Travel to one of the most popular tourist attractions in Hokkaido, Otaru 1 day trip 1. Otaru fish market Walk to find delicious seafood next to Otaru station 2. Otaru canal Otaru canal on a day when the snow falls, very romantic. Around the canal, there are many places to take pictures. At the beginning of the canal, there are a lot of tourists because it's where tour groups come down. If you walk up a little bit, there will be fewer people. There is plenty of time to take beautiful pictures. 3. Kitakaro Main Shop Otaru, a famous dessert shop. The dessert is very delicious. After taking pictures at Otaru Canal, don't forget to stop by and eat. 4. Otaru Aquarium, go see the penguin parade 3 times a day at 10.30, 12.30, 14.30, but we didn't make it in time for the show 😭 Date 15/2/68 Sapporo Sign Seeing Day 1. Nijo Fish Market, a lot of fresh seafood to choose from, but we didn't take pictures for this meal, lol 2. Sapporo TV Tower, another check-in point in Sapporo. You can go up and see the view from above. But we stopped to take pictures around the area instead. 3. The next check-in point is the Sapporo clock tower. 4. Luckily, today the snow started to melt, the sky started to open up, and the streets in Sapporo were easier to walk on, and not slippery. Even though the sun was shining like this, the temperature was 2 degrees Celsius, so it was very cold. 5. After trying the eclair at Kitakaro in Otaru and being impressed, it was the most delicious eclair I've ever had. Today, I decided to stop by Sapporo to eat it. Anyone who wants to come must wait in line. The shop opens at 11:00, only accepting 4-5 tables per round. 6. The next check-in point is the former government office, another landmark of Sapporo. If anyone comes, don't forget to stop by and take pictures. The beautiful old building, combined with the snow, makes for beautiful pictures. The renovation is almost complete. 7. After having lunch, we went back to our accommodation to rest and recharge our energy from the morning. Waiting for the sunset view at Mount Moiwa ropeway and observation desk On 16/2/2568, starting and ending at Susukino, this morning we stopped for coffee at McDonald's 1. Hill of Buddha, travel by subway Sapporo mainline for about 30 minutes and then take a bus for another 30 minutes, we will arrive at Hill of Buddha. On the way here, the view on both sides is very beautiful. There are many places to take pictures, both Stonehenge and the dome of the Buddha statue in meditation posture, which has no roof on top. The snow falling on the Buddha statue is very beautiful. Not to mention the natural view covered with white snow as far as the eye can see. Anyone who visits Sapporo during this time should not miss it. We spent almost half a day here. 2. In the afternoon after lunch, we thought about going to the Ice Festival at Lake Shikotsu, which is held only once a year. Because the journey is quite far... But we went..😅 We traveled from Sapporo JR sta. to Chitose JR sta. to take a bus, but the bus was full, so we didn't stop at this stop. Luckily, we met 2 more Thai people who were going to the same place. So we split the taxi fare for a round trip, which was 7,000 yen, but it was worth it to see the ice sculptures for the first time. Nijo Market - Oiso🐟 Main Store Every time I come to Sapporo, I always visit here for a bowl of sea urchin rice bowl. The freshness and price advantage due to its local sourcing are unbeatable. Compared to Tokyo, the price is at least one-third cheaper, and it's even more affordable compared to prices in Taiwan. 🫢 This renowned shop in Nijo Market has been my go-to for three visits now. This time, I finally got to try their summer-exclusive, limited-edition dual-colored sea urchin rice bowl featuring purple sea urchin and horse-dung sea urchin 🥰. Of course, I indulged in an extra portion 🤭. Among the three sea urchin rice bowls I tried during this solo trip, this one was the most satisfying 😙. I planned to have brunch here, and it turned out to be a feast 🤭. The extra portion of the summer-exclusive dual-colored sea urchin rice bowl was luxurious, and I added 🦀 crab meat for an even richer experience. One of the highlights of this trip was convincing my travel companion, who usually dislikes lamb, to give it a try. They ended up loving it and kept saying, "This is so delicious!" When I first started coming here, I insisted on dining at the main branch. However, the wait times there are quite long. Over time, more branches have opened in the Susukino area, offering more comfortable seating and much better ventilation systems. Some branches even allow online reservations. The best place for foliage and cherry blossoms in Sapporo. Includes the figure skating ice rink used in the Sapporo Olympics Makomanai Park was the main venue used in the 1972 Sapporo Olympics. “The Makomanai Sekisui Heim Ice Arena” is where the figure skater Janet Lynn charmed the people with her spectacular performance and it is opened to the public (admission fee required) during the winter months. There is a 3km circular course in the park, and is populated with runners and joggers during the summer and cross country skiers during the winter. On the 82ha park area, there are approximately 50,000 natural trees and a tree as old as 135 years. It is also a popular destination for visitors who want to enjoy viewing the foliage and the cherry blossoms. Dogtooth violets bloom in abundance in May and this is of the largest scale to grow naturally in a city park.

Moerenuma Park is designed by sculpture artist Isamu Noguchi as a work of sculpture art in itself. The park was reborn from a waste disposal site and transformed into an art park representative of Sapporo over a period of 23 years. The grand scale of this project earned it the name “landscape sculpture.” Visitors can enjoy different scenery depending on the time of the day and season. Instead of picturing yourself in a park, you should probably think of yourself as being inside a huge sculpture piece.

This massive 25.4hectare park boasts approximately 6,400 types of flowers and plants. The park features unique flowerbeds and gardens including the “World Lily Gardens,” where approximately 100 types of lilies collected from around the world can be seen, and the “World Gardens,” which comprise four different types of gardens built in collaboration with Sapporo’s sister cities Portland, Munich, and Shen Yang. From early summer to snowfall, visitors can see different flowers during different seasons. We recommend riding the “Lily Train,” which runs through the park and allows visitors to enjoy seasonal flowers from inside a comfortable train. The park golf course and restaurant tat serves lily bulbs are also popular.

Arrived in Sapporo in the evening and enjoyed a rich miso ramen at Shingen Ramen. The unforgettable taste of the soup was incredible. Its popularity is evident as even foreign tourists line up to try it. Took a stroll from Odori Park to the Clock Tower and TV Tower. Enjoyed the nightlife in Susukino and satisfied a small appetite with some seafood. Returned to the hotel and ended the night with yakisoba bento and Sapporo beer for a toast 🍻. On the final day of the trip, visited the Sapporo Hitsujigaoka Observation Hill, greeted the sheep and Dr. Clark, and concluded the journey with a meal at the Sapporo Beer Museum. The last meal in Hokkaido was Genghis Khan lamb barbecue, enjoyed with a special sauce and recommended salt seasoning. It was delicious. Hokkaido feels like a place that cleanses the soul. That's the impression it leaves.

Odori Park is an oasis with 92 types of trees including lilacs and elm stands located in the middle of a business district. On its lawns and around its fountains, one can find locals and tourists alike relaxing. Odori Park is called a park, but it’s really a street. In 1871, a firebreak, which cuts central Sapporo into is northern and southern parts, was built. The firebreak became Shiribeshi Dori, which was renamed Odori. Odori Park, which is usually a very calm and relaxed space, is also used for many of Hokkaido’s best-known seasonal events, such as the Snow Festival in the winter, Lilac Festival in the spring, YOSAKOI Soran Festival and beer garden in the summer, and Autumn Festival, which brings together various Hokkaido cuisines, in the fall.
