There are four hotels in Hanamaki Onsen Village, and all of them are built by the same group. Except for the highest-level hotel, guests staying in the other three hotels can enjoy the large public baths in all three hotels at the same time. This time I stayed at the Hongye Pavilion in Hanamaki Onsen, but what I recommend most is the private bathhouse. For 2,800 yen + 300 yen per person, you can enjoy the comfort of this level of bathhouse. If it were in Taiwan, a bathhouse of this price would cost two thousand yuan per hour. The bathhouses in Sanxia Dabangen cannot be compared with the ones here. If you have friends coming here, you must book a private bathhouse. Namari Onsen is located in a corner of the Hanamaki Onsen hot spring resort in Iwate Prefecture. You can see it if you head a little further into the mountains from Hanamaki Onsen. The top of the mountain is a ski resort, so it is likely to be quite cool in winter. In order to avoid the crowds at the peak dining time, we dined at Takamatsuan, a hand-made soba noodle shop near Motsuji Temple. This shop uses thick black radish from Miyagi Prefecture, which is a native variety of radish and tastes a bit spicy like wasabi. But after mixing with the soba dipping sauce, it highlights the sweetness of the soba noodles, which is quite interesting! There is only one grandfather running the whole shop, and he does everything from reception to cooking, so you need to wait a while. But I think it is worth it.
