We came from Xi'an to the Huashan Scenery spot by taxi. It takes about 1 hour and 40 minutes to drive from the center of Xi'an. To get to the Western Peak, we used the cable car (first you take a shuttle bus to the cable car station). It was raining, so there weren't many tourists, there was no queue at the entrance, but the shuttle bus runs quite slowly, and we arrived at the top only 1.5 hours after entering... The cable car is very exciting, and you can skip it! After the cable car, you can climb to the South or West Peak. The South peak is the highest, and the route to the North Peak will be long. We decided to climb from the West peak to the North one. On the way, we turned to the Middle and East peaks. We spent about 4 hours on the mountain and took the cable car down from the North Peak. As someone who is scared of heights, this climb has definitely challenged my limits! It wasn't necessarily the tallest mountain I've summited, but it is definitely the steepest. Mount Hua offers multiple routes for aspiring hikers, the one we took was climbing up south, then down the north side. ✨This route is the easiest and most appropriate for beginner climbers as most of the hike is actually downhill. For hikers with experience I highly recommend taking the opposite route!✨ Along the way, there are multiple scary ridges and multiple peaks you can summit. On our way to the summit of all of them, we passed by multiple cliff kitties, interesting temples, as well as two via ferrata trails. ⚠️ Those via ferrata trails are NOT for the faint of heart! They look incredibly steep as you're basically walking on a wooden plant nailed to the side of a cliff...Proceed with plenty of caution if you're interested in them.⚠️ It took us about 5 hours to complete this hike, and I highly recommend taking the cable 🚠 car both ways. Help! Mount Hua in Xi'an is absolutely amazing! As a newbie, I just finished climbing it, and my legs are not my own anymore, but it's totally worth it! I'm sharing my hard-earned experience, so save this post, ladies! First of all, the transportation is super convenient! It only takes 30 minutes by high-speed train to Huashan North Station, and a 20-yuan taxi ride from the station directly to the scenic area. I recommend staying at the foot of the mountain one day in advance, so you can start climbing at 5am the next day and perfectly avoid the crowds! (Don't be like me and sleep until 9am, the queue made me question my life.) The entrance ticket is 160 yuan, but trust me, it's worth the money! I recommend taking the West Peak cable car up the mountain (140 yuan), this lazy person tested it and it's really great! It takes you directly to the mountainside in 10 minutes, saving you 3 hours of climbing stairs. However, sisters who are afraid of heights should be cautious, the cable car is all transparent glass, and I screamed with my eyes closed the whole time (embarrassing.jpg). Here comes the main point! After deciding to hike the Huashan peaks, I kept paying attention to the weather forecast, worried that I would not be able to go up the mountain due to rain after arriving at Huashan. Only after confirming the latest weather forecast did I book a homestay and train tickets next to Huashan Yuquanyuan. I climbed up the mountain in the dark early in the morning and finally set foot on the long-awaited Huashan Mountain (ticket price ￥160). However, I haven't climbed a mountain for a long time in a long time, and I was worried that I couldn't handle the whole hike (about 15 hours). Once we arrived, we started to walk directly to the south peak hoping to escape the crowds, to no avail. It definitely gets worse once you arrive at the plank road. We wanted to experience it but gave up as we were informed that the waiting time would be at least 6 hours. We went on to another spot and queued for another activity. After lining up for an hour, we also gave up as the waiting time was of 2 hours at the very least. Although we couldn't experience the adventurous activities, we definitely enjoyed our time here. If we had to go back, we would sleep one day there or in the city and take the first bus/cable car at the opening, in order to avoid the crowds. Getting back to the train station was a bit complicated. We found the bus stop for the free shuttle on one of the street exciting the roundabout at the entrance (all other buses were going to Xi'an). Tips for travellers: ⭐ arrive as early as possible ⭐ if you don't want to go up most of the time, then enter from the West Peak. ⭐ avoid weekends as you'll spend your time waiting to go up and down the stairs, which can get frustrating. ⭐ buy anti-slippery gloves prior #huashan
