Okinawa Free Travel (Miyako Island) Beach by Ikema Bridge
Ikema Bridge is one of the most stunning oversea bridges in Miyako Island, Okinawa, connecting the main island of Miyako to Ikema Island. Stretching approximately 1,425 meters, this bridge is not only a vital transportation route but also a popular spot for photography and enjoying the mesmerizing "Miyako Blue." Walking along the bridge, you'll be surrounded by endless turquoise waters and blue skies, while the beaches at both ends of the bridge offer breathtaking, hidden-gem-level scenery.
Particularly noteworthy is the small beach on the southern side of Miyako Island's end of Ikema Bridge (near the observation deck). The water here is incredibly clear, with an unbelievable shade of blue. Due to its slightly secluded location and convenient parking, it attracts fewer visitors. Many people come here to take photos of the bridge and sea, wade in the water, snorkel, or even enjoy distant views of Ikema Island's fishing port and white buildings, creating a perfect tropical island vibe.
If you're driving on a self-guided tour, it's recommended to park near the bridge entrance and walk to the beach. There's no entrance fee, and the area is free of facilities, offering a pristine and untouched experience. If visiting during summer, remember to bring sunscreen, a sunshade, and drinking water to enjoy a leisurely half-day at this beach.
