It is one of the representative works of deconstructive architecture. The building won the 2003 British Construction Industry Architecture Award, making Manchester famous. The exhibition hall is obviously much smaller, with only one floor, and it basically takes less than 2 hours to complete the entire visit. If you are a military enthusiast, this is a must-visit place The IWM Museum in Manchester opened on July 5, 2002. The designer was Daniel Libeskind. The entire construction cost approximately £28 million.

Birthday trip for Hubbys 70th . Visited Manchester United Stadium. War Museum and had a leisurely river cruise. We had a lovely time . We stayed at Trafford Hall Hotel which I would recommend.

#manchestertrip A very striking building located just over the river from media city Salford and a stone throw from Old Trafford. The museum was well maintained and informative with a good mix of interesting displays and information. There are some particularly impressive exhibits, my favourite being the Harrier suspended from the ceiling, closely followed by the Rolls Royce Merlin Engine. In the museum there was also a small art installation (not sure if this changes periodically, but the bright neon art signs were great to look at and a juxtaposition to the historic artifacts in the room next door. I'm not sure how many times throughout a day, but whilst there the IWM had an immersive experience with a commentary, projections on the walls and loud historic sounds. The car park where we parked was directly next door (not sure how much it was now) but with the museum being free entry, it was a low cost day out. There was a cafe, and a gift shop. The gift shop had lots of nice things, not just children's toys but history books, nice mugs, etc. the pricing for the kids toys certainly seemed reasonable.

(I was too busy experiencing it to take photos, so if you're interested, you should go and experience it for yourself. It's much better than photos!) ❤ Recommended reasons: The museum is one of the most educational museums in the UK and is open to the public for free all year round. Its innovative exhibitions, stunning design, and unique perspective on war make it a must-see attraction in Manchester! It also reminds people of the value of peace! 🚉 Transportation: Take the tram from Manchester Deansgate-Castlefield station (❌ not the train station, don't confuse it with the train station next door, the tram station is connected to the train station by a bridge) (Trafford Center line) to Imperial War Museum station, then walk to the museum. It's very convenient. 📝 Tips: ❗️ You can take photos, but please turn off the flash. 📸 ❗️ The museum is free, and the exhibition hall is upstairs. ❗️ The museum has a café where you can rest if needed. ❗️ Please follow the rules and do not make loud noises. ❗️ Do not touch the exhibits.

The Northern outpost of the imperial war museum in Salford Quays provides and insightful insight into conflicts that have taken place over the last couple of centuries. Some of the fascinating exhibits on display here include a harrier jump jet, a Russian T-34 tank and part of the structure of the twin towers that was left following 9/11. Admission to this museum is completely free, but do book tickets in advance. There is a certain kind of sadness as you learn about the war times in the past, but yet it is interesting and knowledgeable all at the same time. Everything in this museum is well laid out, and provides an immersive experience here.
