Getting There - To get here you will need to take a taxi from Dujiangyan town. It will take you around 40mins to reach this Ancient Town. Attractions - Just like any ancient town in China is has lots of local shops and cafes and also has an interesting store where you can dress up and take pictures on this beautiful golden chair for 30rmb. If you just keep walking through the town you will end up at the river and here you can stop at the coffee shop and get a break from the sun then you can continue to the Garden of Luyous Poem where children and adults are playing in the water. There is a restaurant submerged in water too so you can sit there and have a drink while your feet soak in the water. Hotels - There are a few hotels around the area. Food & Restaurants - Plenty inside the ancient town. Mostly local cuisine. Shopping - lots of stores inside for souvenir shopping and clothing stores for those that are interesting in buying local clothing.

This is one of the 10 popular old towns in Cheng Du. It is about 2hrs from the CBD by car which is just perfect for a day trip. It was built more than one thousand years ago along a river, but suffered a sever damage in the Wen Chuan earthquake in 2008. Now most the town was either rebuilt or refurbished. It was done in a way to imitate the traditional design. However, it isn’t well managed to maintain its appearance & unique character, and has become like any other commercialised old town. Leave your stomach empty when you go visit. There are various local snacks to fill you up. Some tea houses are located on the river and near the bridge. The antique store near the bridge has some very cool pieces. The town is crowded over the weekend. Althought it seem to be quite commercialised .Nonetheless, it is still a nice place to spend a day & walk around the laneways & buy some local souvenirs & eat some local snacks #sichuanattractions

Large loop is about 13 km, takes 5-6 hours to complete, more suitable for hiking enthusiasts with good physical condition. 🧳Equipment: Comfortable hiking or mountain shoes for traction on slippery paths. Pack some snacks (bread, fruit, beef jerky, etc.) and water in your backpack, as there are no supply points on the mountain. Trekking poles are helpful to reduce leg pressure and test the path ahead. I could feel the old days as I walked through the old buildings lining the narrow alleys and along the cobblestone roads. The local food was also excellent, especially the red oil dumplings and douhua, which were unforgettable. The warm welcome from the people of the town was also impressive, and I realized that the good old days are still alive today. Jiezi Ancient Town, where time flows quietly, is a place I would like to visit again.

The town area is characterized by the unique agricultural culture of Western Sichuan, the Shuanghe site (also known as Shuanghe Ancient City or Xiaomang City ruins) that dates back about 4000 years, the Buddhist culture represented by the ancient temple Guangyan Zen Monastery from the Jin Dynasty, the Taoist culture represented by the Shangyuan Palace, and the poetry culture represented by Tang Qiu, the 'One-Ladle Poet' from the Tang Dynasty. These elements together construct the unique cultural foundation of Jiezi Ancient Town and the Chongzhou region. The ancient street area currently preserves six streets centered around Jiangcheng Street, with 68,000 square meters of ancient buildings. The houses on both sides of the streets are mainly from the middle and late Qing Dynasty, with water wells from the Ming Dynasty still in existence. The Jiezi Ancient Opera Stage is an important symbolic place for cultural inheritance, featuring a spectacular nine-ridge top hip-and-gable roof, relief stone walls, and stilted building columns, showcasing the excellent architectural culture of the Chinese nation and the profound roots of its folk culture.
