Jogi Nyorai Saihoji (commonly known as Jogi-san)
About 800 years ago, Taira Sadayoshi, a member of the Heike clan who lost the Battle of Dannoura, hid in this place while protecting the sacred statue of Amida Nyorai to escape the pursuit of the Genji clan. It is said that he changed his name to "Jogi" at that time, which is why this place is called "Jogi" and the Buddha is called "Jogi Nyorai".
The hanging scroll of the principal image of Amida Nyorai is a secret Buddha, but it is affectionately called "Jogi-san".
It has become a famous power spot for matchmaking, fertility, and safe childbirth, and the Amida Nyorai at Saihoji is said to grant one's greatest wish once in a lifetime, so many worshippers visit.
In addition, there is the Emperor's Tomb, which enshrines the belongings of Emperor Antoku, and the two zelkova trees, which are linked together, are popular as sacred trees for matchmaking.
Also, on the approach to the shrine, there are local gourmet foods that are famous for Teikyo-san.
You should definitely try the local gourmet foods here, such as "Teikyo Tofu Shop's Triangle Fried Tofu," "Yakimeshi" (rice balls) with plenty of miso, "Meat-wrapped rice balls," and "Miso Konnyaku" before heading home☆
