I come to Istanbul every year, and I have a favorite place here where I can escape the city rush and enjoy nature. And it’s Kınalıada. While most tourists head to Büyükada or Heybeliada, the smallest and quietest of the Princes’ Islands — Kınalıada remains an almost untouched gem. Just a 30-minute ferry ride, and you’ll find yourself on an island with reddish cliffs. There are no cars here, which makes it the perfect place for long, peaceful walks. Kınalıada is an ideal day-trip getaway for those who want to experience the authentic, non-touristy side of Istanbul. ⛴️ How to get there: Ferries depart regularly from Kabataş, Eminönü, Kadıköy, and Bostancı. It used to be a place of exile for the Ottoman Empire, but now it has become a weekend vacation and swimming resort for locals. As soon as the boat approaches the pier, you can see many people swimming and playing in the water on the beach next to the pier. Most of them are local residents and their families out for a trip. The waters of Kinaliada are extremely clear and clean, like a jelly sea. There are also many kinds of marine life in the ocean. The waves here are very small, very suitable for swimming and snorkeling. The island is not big. It takes about two hours to walk around the island. The natural scenery on the island is beautiful and it is very suitable for taking photos and checking in. Transportation: Buy a ticket at Kabatas Pier in the new city and take a boat. The boat ride takes more than an hour.
