A Hidden Gem with Personality and Soul: My Stay at “Room To Listen”
Nestled quietly behind a petrol station on a narrow lane, this hotel could easily be missed if you're not paying close attention—but once you step through its unassuming entrance, you're in for a pleasant surprise. The moment I arrived, I was struck by how tranquil and un-hotel-like the atmosphere felt. It was more reminiscent of a boutique café or a cozy studio, exuding a relaxed charm that immediately put me at ease.
The service was exceptional right from the start. I was warmly welcomed by the front desk staff, who not only greeted me with genuine smiles but also offered me an early check-in without any hassle—an unexpected gesture that immediately elevated the experience. I appreciated the personalized touch as the staff personally led me to my room, making me feel like a VIP guest.
I had booked one of their themed rooms, aptly named “Room To Listen.” Tucked away in a quiet corner of the property, the room promised a unique auditory experience—and it delivered. The highlight of the room was undoubtedly the vinyl record player, a feature that initially intrigued me. I had never listened to vinyls before, and the staff kindly guided me through how to use the equipment. That evening, I found myself fully immersed in music, enjoying a mellow and nostalgic soundtrack as I sipped coffee in a comfy armchair. It was a simple yet memorable moment of calm.
Design-wise, the room had a contemporary industrial aesthetic, with cement-textured walls and minimalistic décor. The visuals matched the listing photos perfectly. Amenities were well thought-out: an espresso machine with four capsules, a cozy armchair, a writing desk, and a comfortable sofa to unwind on. There were also complimentary snacks and a well-stocked minibar—small touches that go a long way in making guests feel at home.
The bed was spacious and extremely comfortable, though I personally found the pillows a bit too soft. Still, it didn’t detract from a restful night. Conveniently located bedside were power sockets, USB ports, and reading lamps—features I always appreciate as a traveler.
Perhaps my favorite part of the room was the oversized bathtub positioned just beside the bed. The water pressure was excellent, and it filled up in half the time compared to other hotels I’ve stayed at. Even better, the hotel provides Aesop bath products, which added an indulgent touch with their signature scent.
Overall, the room offered a generous sense of space, thoughtful design, and excellent value for a mid-range price point. It felt like a curated escape rather than a standard hotel stay—creative, comfortable, and a little indulgent in all the right ways.
This review reflects my personal experience and impressions. I wholeheartedly recommend giving this place a try if you’re looking for something refreshingly different from the usual.
