[2025 Tekes Attraction] Travel Guide for Kuoksu Grand Canyon Scenic Zone (Updated Jul)

On the last leg of our journey in Xinjiang, we stayed in Yining City and took a day trip to Koksu Grand Canyon. Having visited the Nalati Grassland the previous day, we decided to explore the Koksu Grand Canyon this time. We first took a shuttle bus to the pier and then switched to a boat to reach the next transfer point. The scenery at the dam was quite different from what we had seen in Kashgar Old City and the Nalati Grassland in the past few days. At Crocodile Bay, you must walk down to the viewing platform. The bay, which resembles a crocodile's head, is a perfect spot for taking photos. A young man nearby was having a great time flying his drone. The winding river with its nine bends and eighteen turns is also a great place for photography. The grasslands, rivers, blue sky, and white clouds create a stunning natural beauty right before our eyes, making for a very pleasant experience.

Nothing can compare to what you see with your own eyes. Xinjiang in May and June is like a god! Having been to Xinjiang many times, I have summarized my personal suggestions and compiled them into a guide to avoid pitfalls when traveling in Xinjiang, for everyone to use!! The temperature difference between morning and night is huge, so wear a thick coat outside and a beautiful skirt inside for taking photos~ 2 When renting a car, it is recommended to choose an SUV with high cost performance and be sure to choose one with low fuel consumption. After arriving at the airport, the staff will come to the exit to handle the car rental procedures, and you can pick up the car after that. 3. For those who pick up the car in Urumqi and drive by themselves, they can choose to return the car to another place. (Consult the car rental company in advance about the rules. Returning the car to a different location is generally not cheap, but it can reduce the fatigue of driving back to Urumqi and save time). 4. Those who charter a car can choose Yining to end their trip without having to return to Urumqi. Communicate with the master in advance. 5There is basically no guide for Sailimu Lake. Enter from the east gate and exit from the south gate! The weather on the grassland is unpredictable, so be sure to bring warm clothes~ 6The Hemu Scenic Area is divided into the old village and the new village. The cabins are in the old village and the hotels are in the new village. The old village is very close to the check-in point, but the sound insulation is poor and the facilities are old. People with poor sleep should be careful.. Tekes County is the only Bagua City in China with complete and formal architecture. You can simply check in and don't mind spending too much time. Self-driving: Drive or rent a car according to your needs, but be aware that some roads within the scenic area may be unpaved, so drive carefully. Public Transportation: First go to Tekes County. During peak season, you can take a direct shuttle bus from the East Bus Station to "Kalajun Scenic Area Bulake Ticket Office" for about 35 yuan. During off-peak season, you can hire a car in the county for approximately 400 yuan round-trip per vehicle. 💰💰Ticket Information All-inclusive Ticket: 275 yuan/person (includes grassland and canyon admission, shuttle buses in both areas, one-way boat ride and cable car), valid for 2 days. If you only have one day, it's recommended to visit the grassland in the morning and the canyon in the afternoon. If time is very limited, just visit the grassland. Recommended Spots: The Flower Platform and Falcon Platform on the grassland are worth exploring in depth. You can also hike or ride horses there. Kuoksu Canyon features a passenger cable car, Hutongsa Waterfall, and stone forest attractions. ❤️❤️Important Notes: Some scenic spots on the grassland are a distance from the shuttle bus stops, requiring a 0.5-1 hour walk or motorcycle ride.
