It was located on the 5th floor of the old building in District 1 (similar to the famous Apartment building on 42 Nguyen Hue) Vibe: Japanese vibe with some sitting are on the floor. There is a huge bookshelf with all the Japanese mangas. Tip: sitting outside at the balcony for the vibrant street view of Nguyen Hue walking street.

If you want to choose the most gorgeous and sophisticated place in Ho Chi Minh, it would be “Nguyen Hue Walking Street” There are many luxury stores and the streets are clean and wide. There is also a Rolls Royce store that I have never seen in Korea…lol The square where the Ho Chi Minh statue is located has great landscaping, so it is pretty no matter where you take pictures. They say the night view is beautiful, but it is also a good place to go during the day. You can feel the development of Ho Chi Minh from the tall buildings and clean and wide streets.

Nguyen Hue Street resembles Gwanghwamun Street in Seoul. There are a lot of young people, and it's really noisy like Hongdae day and night. Especially in the evening, there are a lot of young people sitting in front of the cafe, drinking coffee and playing games, so it makes you wonder where to go. Among them, this cafe is quiet and the coffee is delicious, so I often go there. The interior is also pretty, so it's great for taking pictures. Getting There - the bus stop is right in front of the Saigon Opera house, near Nguyen Hue walking street (during weekend) The ticket is 150K VND for adults and 100K for children. You can purchase it on the spot. Sitting in the upper deck if weather allows as the view is clearer and you can take more beautiful photos upstairs. The tour journey will be around 1 hour. The route map is for reference but the bus may detour due to traffic conditions. Tip: Go for the late afternoon around 5-6pm as the weather is cooler and you can see the whole city’s light on. However, traffic is horrendous as it’s peak hour too.

☕️ Po Cafe – Ho Chi Minh A small cafe with a great mood. Located in an old building in the city center, Nguyen Hue district. Easy to get to, warm atmosphere, slightly vintage style. There are both indoor/outdoor zones, lots of photo spots. Taking photos is cool, looks good without trying too hard. The signature menus here are Egg Coffee and Salted Egg Coffee. The foam is soft, fragrant, creamy, not too sweet. People who don't like bitter coffee should still like it. For those who don't drink coffee, there are tea, cocoa, or light snacks like croissants, crab cheese bread, etc. to choose from. The shop is not very big, but the tables are not crowded, comfortable to sit, play chill music, have plugs to sit and work. However it is still a very affordable city and still has a lot of it’s old world charm, so you get the best of both worlds. ⭐️ Airport - Like most airports in Vietnam there is no direct rail or metro connection to the city - the options are bus, coach or car. I advise booking airport transfers ahead of time with trip to guarantee someone is waiting for you. If you arrive without a booking it can be hard to find an honest driver to get you to the city. So be safe and book ahead! ⭐️ Hotels - A lot of western hotels have opened new luxury hotels as the city has boomed, and the prices for rooms is starting to increase. However you can still get affordable stays if you are willing to stay a little further out of downtown. I found nice bed and breakfast offerings around Ben Thanh - and also a lot of homestays and rentals if that is something you would consider. The rooms are small and convenient and within walking distance of most sites. ⭐️ Transport - Ho Chi Minh has only just opened its metro network and it still has one line, it covers some of the sights but not all. There are a lot of areas you can walk to from the metro,but for some sites you will need a taxi - so use the grab app to make sure you are safe. A lot of the older parts of the city still has plenty of tuk tuks and mopeds, cash in hand for the drivers and you get a good view of the city! ⭐️ Food - Like Hanoi the majority of the food here is locally sourced and there is a limited spread of western restaurants. I mainly ate at markets and street vendors as it’s great to see them cooking your order fresh in front of you. I was also amazed at the range of coffee shops here in the city, some of them are attractions in themselves. Check Instagram for the latest viral spot! Also conveniences stores like Circle K are great for air conditioning, water and snacks in the day! ⭐️ Attractions - The city has a lot of history and there are some really fascinating museums here about the war, and the reunification of vietnam. Happy to be in Ho Chih Minh City at the right moment when they are celebrating their 50th. Really nice affair with the streets decorated and lots of local Vietnamese travelling from the outskirts to join in the festivities. The streets were full of flags, nightly fireworks and daily airshows. By the waterfront there was a boat procession and a display of cannons. There was a world record drone show but I missed it as I had to return home.
