Nishimachi Park is a delightful spot for cherry blossom viewing in Sendai city. After enjoying the sights at Kotodai Park, just a short walk will lead you to this charming and compact park. Though small in size, the density and arrangement of cherry blossoms here are excellent, creating a stunning scene when in full bloom. With the NHK building as a backdrop, picnicking under the cherry trees in the circular plaza offers a unique and picturesque experience. During cherry blossom season, the park hosts a nostalgic Showa-era market during the day and a mesmerizing night cherry blossom illumination event in the evening, making it lively and fun. There were so many baths that I couldn't fit everyone in 👀 ✨Around 14:10 Abe Kamaboko Shop I ate the famous freshly fried gourd fried fish!!! It looks and tastes like an American hot dog, but the inside is filled with sasakama, so I recommend enjoying the Sendai specialty sasakama! 🍵Around 14:30 Ocha no Igeta It's famous for its matcha ice cream and Kikufuku, and I was happy to be able to enjoy both at the same time 😋 More than anything, it was delicious!!! 🪦Around 15:30 Zuihoden This is the place where Date Masamune is enshrined, and there was a stylish building in gold, red, green, etc.!!! 🌸Around 16:30 Nishikicho Park I went to see the cherry blossoms!!! During this period, Christmas trees and huts (wooden huts) inspired by the real German Christmas markets are set up, and Christmas goods and hot drinks are sold. In addition to the standard menu of hot chocolate and mulled wine (red and white), there are more types of food sold than at the real German Christmas market. It was nice to be able to eat inside a warm tent. I recommend going early when it's quiet! It is held at the same time as the "SENDAI Pageant of Starlight," a winter tradition in Sendai, so I also went there on the way back. Nishikicho Park is about an 11-minute walk from JR Sendai Station (West Exit) and about a 5-minute walk from Kotodai Park Station or Hirosedori Station on the Sendai Municipal Subway Namboku Line. This time I went to the Christmas market held at Nishikicho Park! It's within walking distance from Sendai Station. It's closer to the station than Kotodai Park, so it was easy to walk there. I went on a day when there was no admission fee, so I went in for free! When I went in, there were so many food stalls that I was instantly hungry I wanted to eat quickly. This time it was like a hot dog and German fries? I ate it. In the back, there was an outdoor facility where you could sit and eat, and a snow globe-like thing I ate my fill.

#thingstodo It is a relaxing park surrounded by Honmachi and Nishikicho, where offices, vocational schools, and preparatory schools are located, and is loved by citizens along with Kotodai Park, which is located to the northwest of the park across Jozenji Street (National Route 45). As a park it serves it's purpose. Nothing special here other than some sculptures as landmarks. This park is often used in events though so there's always something going on here.
