There are shuttle buses directly to Okayama Station and Kurashiki at the airport entrance. You can take the bus by purchasing a ticket for 1,000 yen with a transportation card or cash. If the bus is full, it will be added. You don’t have to wait for the bus. It is a very thoughtful design. The entire airport is not big. There are convenience stores and souvenir shops on the first floor, and the second floor is a restaurant area. Although it is small in scale, it has everything it should have. The distance between the domestic and international lines is less than 100 meters, and the movement line is clear, so it is not easy to get lost. There is a small duty-free shop after leaving the country. There are not many products but basically everything is available. Surprisingly, this restaurant originated in Kyushu and gained popularity in Okayama. Currently, there are only five locations across Japan, with the farthest one in Nagoya. The sizzling hot iron plate carries freshly seared pork cutlets. To prevent overcooking and maintain the perfect texture, cabbage leaves are placed underneath. Unlike the typical steak-eating experience with a knife and fork, this restaurant offers a Japanese-style fusion pork cutlet set meal. It includes Okayama-grown rice, Hokkaido kelp broth, and miso from a long-established Okayama shop, creating a dish that is both locally inspired and modern. The menu is simple, offering only three items: grilled pork rice bowls, pork cutlets, and hamburger steaks. You can choose portions ranging from 150g to 250g, paired with original sauce, salted green onion sauce, or Korean spicy sauce, allowing for various price combinations. The restaurant prides itself on its three-minute quick cooking method, locking in the meat's juices. When served, the pork cutlet is about 60-70% cooked, allowing diners to heat it to their preferred doneness as they eat. The result is a juicy bite with the natural sweetness of pork. I opted for the salted green onion sauce, which added a completely different flavor experience. During my trip to Okayama, I chose to stay at the Mitsui Garden Hotel, and the overall experience was excellent. The hotel's location is outstanding—just a 5-minute walk from JR Okayama Station. Right across the street is the large AEON MALL, making it incredibly convenient for shopping, dining, or picking up daily necessities. Nearby, you'll also find Don Quijote, convenience stores, and Takashimaya, ensuring all your needs are met. The first-floor lobby is spacious and elegantly decorated, featuring numerous artworks that add a touch of cultural sophistication. Check-in can be done via self-service kiosks, but friendly staff are also available to assist. I stayed in a double room, which, while not very large, was efficiently designed and equipped with all the essentials. The housekeeping staff thoughtfully replenished two complimentary bottles of mineral water daily, which tasted great. My favorite feature was the large public bath on the 10th floor, open from 3 PM until 9 AM the next day. There's no need to rush when enjoying a relaxing soak in the evening. The bath area is clean and comfortable, with views of greenery outside, making it the perfect place to unwind after a day of activities. For a weekday rate of under 3,000 TWD, this hotel offers incredible value for money. Its prime location, well-rounded facilities, and excellent service left a lasting impression. If I visit Okayama again, this hotel will undoubtedly be one of my top choices.

There are plenty of accommodation options in Okayama, but I’ve always been fond of this particular hotel. Not only are the beds incredibly comfortable and the rooms spacious, but the highlight is definitely the large bath area. It features both indoor and outdoor pools, along with a cooling zone. After soaking in the bath at night, you can wash away the fatigue of your journey and enjoy a restful sleep. The location is right next to Okayama Station. After exiting the station, turn right and walk along the railway for about five minutes to reach the hotel. The building is divided into the South Wing (older building) and the North Wing (newer building), connected by a passageway on the second floor. The large bath is located on the second floor of the North Wing, and if you’re staying in the South Wing, you can easily access it by crossing the stairway. Whenever I visit, I actually prefer staying in the South Wing. After self-check-in, you can immediately head upstairs. The older wing has been renovated, and on two occasions, I was lucky enough to book a single room but got upgraded to a twin room, which offers more space. The overall design exudes a low-key and sophisticated business vibe. Another reason I recommend this hotel is its proximity to Okayama’s largest shopping mall, Aeon Mall, which is right across the street. Okayama Korakuen, one of Japan's three great gardens, is a must-visit spot when traveling to Okayama. My first encounter with Korakuen was during a road trip from Hiroshima to Kyoto, making a special stop in Okayama City to explore this strolling garden that has existed since the Edo period. Korakuen spans a vast area of 133,000 square meters, and its natural beauty throughout the changing seasons is simply breathtaking. The garden features ponds, artificial hills, plum groves, and tea fields, enhancing its natural charm. The historical buildings from the Edo period, such as Enyo-tei, Renchi-ken, Yuishin-zan, Ryuten, and Hananoike, also attract many visitors. Korakuen boasts blooming flowers all year round. In winter, you can see plum blossoms; in spring, Yoshino cherry blossoms, azaleas, peonies, and peonies; and there are even chrysanthemum displays with flowers as big as faces, which are quite impressive. Korakuen is just a bridge away from Okayama Castle, and you can enjoy a distant view of this beautiful castle. Okayama Takashimaya in front of Okayama Station was designed by the famous Japanese architect Murano Togo. I took the train from Okayama Station to Kibitsu Station. Kibitsu Station is an unmanned station that evokes a sense of nostalgia.
