Beautiful lakeside town Hallstatt 🇦🇹🤍
Hallstatt in Austria is said to be the most beautiful lakeside town in the world.
It's not that easy to get to, but you can enjoy some spectacular views.
Hallstatt is a small lakeside town located in the state of Upper Austria in central Austria.
Hall means salt in Celtic, and Stadt means place in German. As the name suggests, it has prospered through the mining of rock salt.
The Hallstatt area was registered as a World Heritage Site in 1997 as the "Cultural Landscape of Hallstatt and Dachstein in the Salzkammergut Region".
It is also famous as the setting for the movie "The Sound of Music".
The old town has colorful houses lined up along the lakeside, and many of the buildings were built between the 16th and 18th centuries, conveying the traditional architectural style of the Alps to the present day. Walking through the narrow alleys and cobblestone streets, you will feel as if you have traveled back in time to the Middle Ages.
You can enjoy it on a day trip, but there are a lot of tourists, so if you want to take your time and see the quiet town, it's better to stay overnight◎
⭐︎Access
There are various ways to get there, such as trains and buses, but
I went by train from Salzburg.
(You can also access it from Vienna!)
*If you take the bus, you will need to transfer to a train along the way!
The train is a little more expensive, but it is recommended for beginners🚃
When I went by train, the cost was about 20€ one way💶
From Hallstatt Station to the center, you can take a boat⛵️
A round-trip ticket was 8€. Be careful, as payment is only accepted in cash!
