We dropped by Red Star Restaurant near Chin Swee Temple, not expecting much—but it ended up being quite a nostalgic trip down memory lane. The dim sum? Honestly, nothing to shout about. It was the usual fare—har gow, siew mai, chicken feet—competently done, but nothing that stood out. What did stand out, though, was the setting. The moment you step inside, you’re transported to the late ’80s or early ’90s. The retro décor, old-school wall art, vintage furniture, and tiled floors create such an authentic, almost untouched charm. It’s the kind of place that reminds you of Sunday brunches with the family when you were a kid—warm, familiar, and unfussy. It’s more about the atmosphere than the culinary fireworks here. Cafe had an elaborate interior and Garden Themed. However i dont really like the divider that were used to separate each table though. Food that we had ordered tasted decent, however their Chicken Chop was not tender or juicy but dried and tough. Good food, large servings and nice setting. Large servings too with reasonable prices.
