While studying abroad, I went to Sagunto, where my friend's family lives! I'll show you the scenery of a simple rural town in Spain. It took about 40 minutes by Renfe from Valencia, and about 30 minutes by car. 🚗 The symbol of the city, Castillo de Sagunto, is 1 km long, and inside there are ruins of the Iberians, ancient Romans, Visigoths, Islam, and Christianity. The townscape was especially beautiful when viewed from the heights. It’s this massive, ancient fortress that stretches across a ridge like it owns the whole town, because it kinda does. The place is super old (we’re talking Romans, Moors, and everyone in between), and you can totally feel the history as you walk through the crumbling walls and crazy long corridors. No strict paths or ropes, just you, the ruins, and your imagination. The views? Unreal. You get the whole town of Sagunto below you, the sea in the distance, and hills all around. Great for photos, or just sitting on a stone and taking it all in. It’s totally free to enter and open most of the day, so you can wander at your own pace. Bring comfy shoes and water, it’s big and a bit of a climb. If you’re into ancient vibes, epic views, and low-key adventures, Sagunto Castle is a total win.

Spanish Mediterranean Coast Tour ~ Valencia (Region) The Castle of Sagunto covers an area of ​​nearly one kilometer in length. It bears witness to the passage of time and the presence of different civilizations that have inhabited it: Romans, Visigoths, Arabs and Christians. It was declared a national monument in 1931 due to its historical importance. The fortress is divided into seven squares, the most important of which is called the Plaza de Armas or Santa María Magdalena, which is the oldest part of the castle. It contains the remains of a Roman forum, shafts, columns, and cisterns carved out of the rock.
